I normally get to Le Mans as quickly as poss as I normally have a car full but this year it s just 2 of us, we normally do Pompey Caen but this year it s newhaven dieppe. Anyone got a nice non payage route.
Dieppe is pretty close to Rouen but I'd take N27 to the Autoroute, then follow it across pass Yvetot and over the Pont de Normandie which is spectacular, then stop off at Honfleur. From there as mentioned above, Falaise, Ranes, Carrouges , Sille Le Guillame, etc.

We cut across from Carrouges to north of Alencon and do just a short stretch of autoroute before getting off and routing through Savigne L'Eveque because were that side of the city..
Thanks, I’ll give that a go.

For anyone taking in Honfleur going either way, whilst the harbour and its many restaurants is certainly a reason to visit, don’t forget to step into the backstreets off the square. Well worth a wander to walk off lunch smokin2

I'd be interested to hear what's happened to the Hotel L'Ecrin in Honfleur - it appears to have closed down. Website closed and I'm told the front gates are padlocked. It's a favourite stop in Honfleur, so it'll be sad if it's gone.

Thanks lowdrag! Have used this route a few times over the years and it’s a good ‘un!

Will be driving off the Portsmouth - Caen ferry on Thursday morning and following this route again

Don't forget your coffee and croissant at Le Lion Verd! Which incidentally doesn't mean the Green Lion but the Copper Lion. "Green" is "Vert", and "Copper" is "Verd".

PS The closer we get, the more likely the forecast is true. Sunshine and showers Saturday, but 25C and a lot of sunshine for most of the week.

I tried to go there a couple of years ago but after disembarking the ferry at 7am it was still closed when we arrived in Putanges at 8:30. Hopefully they get out of bed earlier this year!

I have found the same thing the last couple of years. I even emailed them last year to confirm they did breakfast, and they advised that they did, but were closed when I got there in the morning.
