Any ISF owners in Reading/Oxford area? Had mine for a couple of weeks now - love it !! Few small issues to sort out such a slight oil leak from the cooler but other than that so far it’s been great! Love the noise! Mpg is bareable.

Don't ignore that oil leak, someone recently had a ruined gearbox due to some cooler failure.

They were quoted £9,000 for a new gearbox.

Picked up today. What an epic monster! 35 miles home at legal limits, 28.6 mpg. That'll most probably be the best I'll get....
So year on and whats the verdict ?

Still loving it. Yes the suspension is firm, and playing around with tyre pressures helps.
Only covered 5000 miles as it's used for weekends away and day trips.
Still haven't seen another one yet, and has only been commented on by one enthusiast.
Achieve 30 mpg at sensible motorway speeds, and 14 when playing!
The modified exhaust sounds fabulous, and certainly turns heads.
The 8 year service at 48k was £425 at Lexus Coventry with the 15% Lexus owners club discount. The air-conditioning condenser was leaking and replaced under warranty without a quibble. The next 2 years are covered now at £795. A bargain when compared to Mercedes or BMW.
I enjoy the fact it flies under the radar, and the rarity, with only about 200 in the country, and mine being blue with white leather, one of 43.
Can't see myself changing it for a while.

Good to hear you are still enjoying it. I owned 2 pre facelifts in the end since I started this thread.

Both were purchased from fellow LOC members. The first one was replaced with a modified Evo X. The second was eventually replaced with my current shed, a saab 9-3 wagon. It’s a shame Lexus never offered the 5.0 V8 engine in an estate, as a result I find myself looking at the C63 wagon.

I still love how leftfield and rare the ISF is, only ever saw a handful on the road. Brilliant car for the money!

I only owned mine for a short period but I do miss the power, noise and general quality feel. I find myself looking at them for sale again, would have to soften the suspension somehow if I bought another one though.

Yes and the transmission was excellent for the era and the performance.

It was quick in sport mode yet super smotth. Much better than the DCT transmissions.

I find myself looking at ISF's again. I wanted one last year but couldn't find a good one in my price range, so ended up getting my Forester STi instead.

I now want an auto so trying to decide exactly what to replace the Foz with...currently at the top of the list ISF, Merc C55, Audi S5.

I love the ISF, re: Suspenson I believe in later models circa 2010 they made some changes so as to not displace your vertebrae, also they put in a proper mechanical LSD - these models have that distinct blue wrap around the bottom of the steering wheel.

Going against the grain is a good thing, 200 or so ISFs in the whole country against a sea of Audis and BMWs so a slim chance of seeing any at lights (I can speak since I will never see a car like mine what with 20 or so registered Subaru SpecBs)

Seriously, Get an ISF. There is a very high probability it will be the far most reliable on that list - I would

It may depend how much I want to spend on buying a car and how much it will cost me in the future...an ISF will obviously be more expensive to buy, servicing and parts (brakes, tyres etc) will be more, tax is more. Insurance I’m not sure and they’ll both be equally as bad on fuel.

The C55 comes as an estate too, which is a big plus! But I am a massive fan of the ISF and Japanese cars in general. Decisions decisions!

I did a lot of research before buying mine. 19 inch tyres are the same price as are fitted to any other marque. Fuel is the same price. Front Brembo discs and pads are a DIY fit for less than £300.
Services are a lot less than other performance cars.
Being clever, you can have a full Lexus warranty until the car is 12 years old!
They rarely go wrong.
They are not time bombs.
The majority of posts on Lexus forums talk about polishing and modifications, not major mechanical problems.
Oh dear, let the cat out of the bag!! Hopefully with all of the above, prices will remain stable.

The ISF is indeed a rare sight on UK roads. Reliability is superb compared to it’s rivals (E9x M3, C63 and the RS4).

The only weak point is the waterpump, the manufacturers extended warranty covers this and is reasonably priced considering it also includes breakdown cover.

I just wish they had made it in estate form!

Someone on the Lexus forum has been able to purchase 4 years warranty in one go. His now 9 year old ISF is now covered until it's 13 years old.
Which other manufacturer can offer that?
