Total cost of lease will be lower than depreciation in the same period.
Other way popular on this forum, total lease cost over 2 years below 25% of car price. Some say RRP price, some discounted price. Considering that fact that some cars are are heavily discounted, it's probably better to use discounted price in calculations.
Cars loaded with options as standard are also better choice because if you add options, in most cases you will have to pay for them in full over the term of lease.

how do you calculate what is a good dear on a lease or contract hire?
I'd say the only definitive way is to work out the cost of ownership (depreciation, tax and interest if on PCP) and if the lease is less then lease is better. The 25% figure is a very very rough yardstick but can be BS when looking at cars with lower or higher depreciation figures and that figure is focused around 2y/10k which may not be for you.TomScrut said:

I feel you might get 425 on a good deal but normal prices are a lot lot more than that!
I got offered around that back in October on a 3+23 10k before options (as I went for the exhaust and dynaco interior) and was around £440 after options IIRC. I ended up with an S5 though as thought it was more car for the money.Nickyjg said:

What were you charged for out of curiosity? Did you expect to incur charges for other aspects of the car and what were they? If my car went back today I'd expect to pay for 1 kerbed alloy and an unfortunate scrape on the passenger side skirt which I noticed the other day, it's only about an inch but is down to bare metal and is not acceptable going by BVRLA FWAT guidelines. I'd be interested to know what sort of charges people have incurred for similar issues.
I just had 1 kerbed alloy which although wasn't very deep did cover around 40% of the circumference. Charge is £85 which isn't too bad. Anything more and I would have probably sorted it myself. The person inspecting makes a judgement call on weather you can get away with a smart repair I believe and then prices it accordingly. I wouldn't worry too much they seem fair. Best advice I would give is get out there and have a chat with the guy, I think the whole process is very subjective so having a chat and cup of tea could make the world of difference.

I got hold of him and he assured me I had a car and I'd get my docs in next 48 hours. He said he'd been snowed under.
Guess we just have to wait and see. No choice really.
