I think they are one of the most ridiculous things on current cars, saw a bloke with one yesterday, it took him longer to open the boot than it does to open and close one manually. Complete waste of money.
Oddly enough I find mine (which was standard) more useful than the folding mirrors people moan about not being standard on some cars.

If carrying a large item that would need putting down to get to the button on the car, you can plan ahead and have the keys in your hand so you can open the boot without having to put the box down.

Ha. I've inadvertently started a discussion about electric tailgates, but I agree - they're nice to have. On an SUV my wife might struggle to reach a fully open boot lid.

When 'leccy windows first appeared were they dismissed as being bling for men who like to show off? And I say that as a man who owns a car that has wind-up windows. They add lightness apparently.

Sprung boot achieves the same doesn’t it? Since they added gesture opening it does make more sense to me though.

On cars such as mine with a long hatchback boot door (S5 sportback) or a vertical door such as an estate or small hatchbacks would a sprung door be possible (without being more complex than a powered one)? Surely because the weight and angle of the thing it would probably be difficult to close?

I agree re a saloon/coupe style boot but I didn't think they would be powered anyway?

When do you guys start looking/ordering a replacement lease?

My scirocco goes back on 1st June - that took about 12 weeks to arrive, but our Evoque took nearly 5 months (3 weeks due to a wiring loom issue on the Ingenium engine prior to delivery)

Looking for something "sporty" and ideally 2 seater, either cabriolet or coupe - doesn't appear to be much out there.

I was up for the Ghibli i posted a few weeks back, but as others have said the spec isn't great and i'd only be getting it for the badge (as i've always wanted a Maser) not because its a good car.

Leon Cupra 300 deals are still there, 1+23 for £259 for 8k miles from Seat Warrington.

I ordered mine about a month ago for expected April delivery, so timing may work for you. 3 door is the same price as 5 door with free metallic paint so fits the 2 door spec. Depends on how much you are looking to spend though! BMW 440i is still available i believe.

Hi All,
Long term lurker here!
Got my eye on a Merc C43, potentiality a convertible.
I don’t need the car till April & most of the deals I’ve found via Parkers.co.uk are stock cars for immediate delivery.
Would the logical thinking be to wait till Jan/feb are then revisit this?
I’ve shown some of the deals to my local Merc dealership & they’ve said they can’t get anywhere near them - they seem to only be able to offer PCP’s which are 2/3 more expensive!
Keen to pick everyone’s brains here.
Appreciate any response to this!
Cheers!

Is it a good deal you have found? C43s seemed very dear when I ordered my S5 and I didn't think they had come down much.

If you’re looking for a C43 you’ll get a far better deal picking up a stock vehicle early next year. In terms of price I think you’ll struggle to pick one up for less than £400 per month based on 9+23 10000 miles per annum. Realistically I would expect to pay ~£430 per month. In terms of AMG products Pantheon are normally the most competitive and always have a steady flow so might be worth starting with them early next year and see who can beat them.

There's been a couple of good deals lately on Abarth 124 Spiders.

Some misguided person a while back stated how terrible the jaguar engines are however thought I’d correct this. I’ve got the XE 2.0 ignenium Petrol. I’ve done 600 Miles so far and it’s the auto box. It’s slightly quicker than a golf GTI and I’ve managed 45mpg on a combined run in eco. Yes, granted it’s not as technologically advanced in some ways as the 1.4 tsi 150 Petrol engine in my other car (A4) however it’s way more fun !!!

I thought it looked sharp on the outside. But inside looked pretty dated and basic compared to the competition (IMO).
