Long time lurker etc etc
Think I made a massive mistake in not jumping /triggering / punching fruit on the golf r or skoda vrs deals as I think through the potential cost of my next service....

Slightly off topic but related to choosing a new car but does anyone know if the BMW 3 series touring, a4 avant and octavia or superb estate have offset pedals?

I have an a5 sport back tiptronic and they are offset and I am convinced it's what's knackered my back so without having to visit every dealer and see one I'd like to get an idea. I'm in the market for a reasonably quick petrol estate or a 6pot oil burner estate so any other suggestions welcome.

My experience has been that every VAG car has offset pedals and generally a poor driving position. A lot of people seem to like them for comfort though... Must be a body shape thing.

I've only driven a small handful of BMWs, not including the current 3 Series, but they've felt far more comfortable and aligned to me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one driven slightly insane by seats/pedals/steering wheels being out of alignment - it's like the people signing off the design only ever drove them for 15 minutes at a time at the most, doing two hours a day means you end up all twisted out of alignment yourself.

From the comments I've read on here, Volvos are pretty good for a sorted driving position? That and McLarens, although they might be out of PCH budget... lol

The Corsa example is a MANUFACTURER offer, nothing to do with sales people at all.
Fair point... but still seems wrong to me, no matter where the sales team cooking these 'deals' are based!

It may be a RHD thing as I've noticed the same but find the LHD versions feel so much better.

Who are the big players for the golf R deals when they drop? Assuming the deals are under written VWFS who's best to lease through?

Get the feeling I'll need to be quick for an R hatch so who's best for a 1st timer like myself to deal with
Crewe VW were the cheapest for me:

I was going to say... I have heard that VAG are lazy when converting to RHD and just switch sides without adjusting the angles, etc.

In my Passat B7, when I was sat in the driver's seat the central console pushed my left leg so much that my hips were completely mis-aligned. But when I sat in the passenger seat both legs had plenty of space.

Not quite sure what you mean by offset, do you meant the pedals are further right then they should be? I have a B9 S5 and I can't say I have noticed being uncomfortable but I think they may be what you call offset. The S4 Avant is on fairly good deals at the mo.

Some BMW's are the same, older 911's the list goes on. I guess they design a car for lhd as that's 85% of their sales and sometimes we suffer because we drive on the wrong side of the road. We never got the Mercedes GLK or some of the 4Matic product because it just didn't work.

My current model F31 3 series is perfect and tbh having driven many 3's and 5's over the years have never had a problem

Nothing to do with Vag.
Bmw and many other companies are the same.

Transmission tunnel takes up most of space in longditudannaly mounted lumps.

Test drove the S4 Avant today, I thought it was a really impressed...think I might go for the fleet price lease offer on the car, with a few extras virtual cockpit, tinted windows and 19" wheels

I fancy the same, but instead of tints, the folding mirrors. How a car like this doesn't have them as standard is criminal!

Have you had a quote include those extras yet?

Agree. My BMW F31 has a great driving position once set up, but getting there using the manual adjustments is quite hit and miss. If someone moves my seat, I get very annoyed..
