It should be on flexible (LongLife) servicing - so will typically go to around 18mths (but can be up to 24mths) / 18K miles. All VWs come out of the factory set for flexible and those sold to retail customers are changed to fixed interval (12mth/10K miles) at PDI unless the buyer asks for it not to happen. Leased Alltracks should be left on the flexible regime. If changed to fixed interval they'll probably need to be serviced twice unless the dealer can be persuaded to change the service regime back to flexible. Bear in mind the different service regimes have different prices for the actual services - the ideal (cheapest) thing would be to get away with just the one fixed interval service.

You should be able to check when the service is due in the car/setup menu. The oil service and inspection service are generally due a couple of thousand miles apart, but the garage should do both in one hit. Just had my Leon serviced because the oil service indicator popped up and they did both oil + inspection for £189. Not sure if this is expensive or not, but for the only servicing cost over two years + 30K miles it seems alright to me.

In terms of your question, I would just go with VW to save any heartache....as already mentioned, ring around a few dealers and try and get your closest dealer to price match the other dealer. It won't be too much more than going to an Indy.

Original monthly was £107, then upped it to £135 with increased mileage in September last year, quote to extend for a third year is £149.
A mate who got the same deal at the same time was told when calling to increase his mileage not to bother if he wanted to increase the term, as he would get a cheaper price for the extra 12 months. Which sure enough, he did - £128, including increased mileage.

Got any other dealers locally? Just call them up for quotes, maybe play them off against each other. That's a fair point and yes it was a chunky deposit, but suited us as Mrs Aussieal was due to head off on first mat leave. Issue for me was inconsistent way in which they dealt with it.

It's finding someone who's bothered which is the hardest bit. Often these days when you call a dealer, you're actually speaking to the group's call centre.Blown2CV said:

If you phone VW Driverline you may well find they are being very flexible at the moment regarding main dealer servicing. I got messed about severely by my supplying dealer, and wasn't able to then get the car serviced by any near main dealer within the time when it was due to be done, the service adviser said it was fine to use an indy as long as VW parts were used. Main dealers in London/SE are in a real mess over the diesel work going on, and the service is very poor, VWFS (Driverline etc) know this. I had the service done at a very good VW specialist instead, all VW part numbers listed. It's a shame, the car has been a great family wagon for us, but every dealing I've had with VWFS and the dealer network has been negative.
