As it says above, looking for some opinions and advice and balanced comments on what my next car should be. I presently drive a 911 997.1 C4s and quite frankly I'm a bit under whelmed. I don't do track days and the car is my daily driver and although its a fine car..it just doesn't wow me...i don't think its particularly fast or enough of an event or feel good factor. I think my old cayman s was a better drive and easier to get me smiling (until bore score happened. ) Any way i kinda decided on 4 different cars..and they are very different....
1 TVR T350 or Tamora (had a tamora before and loved it)
2 Maserati Grantourismo auto 2007-2009
3 DB9 2005-2006
4 Cayman s 981

any help ideas would be great. Would be daily driver (except for TVR when i would buy an old basher for a daily) I do mostly drives from Nottingham to inverness so has to be comfortable, Mainly M, A roads with weekend blasts on B roads.

Cheers in advance

I guess its always going to be a compromise between long range comfort and drama. If the 911 is leaving you a bit cold/underwhelmed, I would expect that perhaps the Aston, and Maserati (particularly in auto guise) might leave you similarly underwhelmed. Especially if its the engagement and perhaps additional effort you put it that leaves you nostalgic about the cayman. For that reason, I'd go back to the cayman if it were me.

The tvr would of course be exciting - a real visceral experience - but it comes with sting of putting you mostly at the wheel of some cheap and reliable soulless machine every day, whilst the car you like sits at home unused, and perhaps before long, unjustified and you're back asking questions about what next.

Its not the out and out speed that ins interested in, its the feel good factor that being in a car that look and sounds fantastic. The TVR just has something that the others don't, but the masi and the DB9 look and sound great...the Cayman is a bit of a compromise between the TVR and the other two..drives superbly but doesn't quite have the same impact visually or aurally

Not really a fan...i know its a good looking car, and i know i shouldn't..but i can't help but think of Mondeos and Fiestas when i see one, i know its a bit odd..but its how i am...probably a bit of a badge snob if truth be told.

981 For the daily driver. Still one of the nicest cars I have owned (and I've owned a few!)

The Granturismo is a great car & I really liked mine but there are a couple of things to look out for when looking at the 4.2's you need to find one that has had the Cam Variator fix carried (you can check this via Maserati) out, the front suspension bushes are also an expensive fix but the upgraded ones will mean you won't have to worry about those also they're quieter than you'd expect service cost are between £600-1200.

I'd happily recommend one as they manage to still feel special at low speed but go in with your eyes open.

That Cayman is a thing of beauty and a fabulous car...would you say it has the same presence and wow factor as the DB9 or Grantourismo?

I was buying a new house so the car had to go I would have bought another one but I've bought other toys & I'm now saving up for a GT350R so I can't have another just yet but I will get another.

Thanks. Great car, loved it. It wasnt too shabby on track with pccbs's either.

I'm not a big Maser fan, I dont like the front of the GT that much and I know a few people who own them (and have helped a couple of friends buy them) and the running costs are nasty.

DB9 a great car but dated looking IMHO.

Cayman just a great all round car. Full leather made all the difference inside too.
