My 520d is going back next week under VT - happy with the basic process.

In terms of condition, I have a couple of minor scratches on the bumpers

I've been quoted £450 to repaint the bumpers. Anyone any experience of how funders/finance companies treat damage like this? I'm swaying towards getting it repainted myself

Any tips greatly appreciated

I'd get it repaired first as they are definitely in the chargeable area

Agree with the advice to get that sorted. Sent back a Citroen DS3 recently under VT and got massively stung. Negotiated my way out of some of it, but still ended up coughing up about £300 for a couple of minor knocks and a scraped alloy.

Yours don't look minor to me!

Didn't think you could VT a PCH car?

I know you can terminate the agreement but usually at a cost, which is different to VT'ing an HP/PCP agreement

I'd actually recommended not repairing it.

We VT'ed a Nissan and Ford PCP earlier this year. The Nissan was my car and I had it fully repaired including refurbished alloys and resprayed back bumper. The Ford had a couple of kerbed alloys and chips / scratches in the driver door, we decided not to repair that car.

Nissan collection agents turned up, full inspection and noticed the respray so charged me for them to redo it. The rest passed by with no problem but I did have to effectively pay for two bumper resprays which was annoying.

Ford collection agents turned up, hardly inspected and signed everything off as fair wear and tear with nothing to pay.

Nissan actually quoted me a cheaper price to respray the bumper than what I had already paid. Alloys were only slightly more expensive when I asked the agent how much for a point of comparison.

Hope this helps.

Depends on the funder. Ive heard the opposite with VWFS and often cheaper to leave the damage and get them to do it.
