I was in the same position recently. Ended up spending less than £40k on a fully loaded Porsche Boxster S (981) with PDK, Sports Chrono, PASM, PSE, PTV etc to make it a nice drivers spec. I decided I didn't need any more car than that I that I didn't need to spend any more money! Any more, and I'd be too worried about it. I wouldn't want to park it up anywhere!!

If you were happy spending a bit more, I'd seriously consider a 981 Boxster or Cayman GTS. They will hold their vales pretty well. Just so much FUN!

Love this video!

Op

You need to help with narrowing it down apart from just a price range.

1. Classics allowed if so what’s the oldest age you’d consider.
2. How many seats
3. Estate Coupe vert Saloon Maloo
4. Power?
5. Turbo supercharged or NA
6. Does economy matter at all?
7. V12?
8. British?
9. Wow factor or sleeper
10. Garage queen or a real usable car.
11. Track fun all the time sometimes or absolutely never.
12. Does the Lotus Carlton appeal at all?

You do realise that even a burnt out wreck of a M609 wouldn’t be in budget don’t you.

Amazing car brutal but you probably need around the £300-500k mark in change to acquire one. The lesser Nobles however would still be a great buy and affordable

So, "£55 - £60k on something for the weekend"?

Easy, this one. Suite at a hotel in Vegas, four hookers, and a massive bag of coke.

Oh, a CAR, you mean? In that case:

BMW M5. All the performance car you'll ever need. Buy the newest you can afford.
Merc SL63 AMG. Good looking, and brutal. Like finding out Kylie Minogue is a proficient MMA cage fighter.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage. You will NEVER tire of looking at it. Taking it to the dealer every five minutes will be tiresome, however.
Porsche Cayman GTS. So new, it will still have loads of warranty left. Fast and capable.
Honda NSX. Your budget will get you a REALLY nice one.

I would suggest getting down to as many specialist dealers as you can, making it very clear that you have £55-60k to spend on a "fast toy". Then test drive the crap out of lots of special cars.

Have fun!

Why not the super rare SL65 F1 AMG instead a SL63 AMG?

I've always loved them from being very young, they do look a bit over the top but there's always been something about them for me, and it's been in my dream garage for a long time.

10. Garage queen or a real usable car. To be used weekends
11. Track fun all the time sometimes or absolutely never. Occasional track - but nothing serious

Being fairly new to PH and being a 40 something luddite, I haven't replied to all the responses - but overwhelmed by the ideas - fantastic!

May add a Cobra, Lotus Evora, db9 (manual) to the test drive list
