Wouldn't even need to be trailered, the miles would start from the delivery regardless. But sounds a better deal than schlepping round the country to end up paying extortionate excess mileage!
Some lease companies don't start the contract after delivery, they'll include the delivery in to your total allowance
Wow, thats a bit naff!

Hi. Newbie here found this offerfrom Vehicle Savers, in your esteemed opions any good??

Volkswagen Golf Hatchback
2.0 TSI GTI 5dr
from £173.57 (exc VAT)
£2082.84 Initial Rental | 23 Months @ £173.57 | 5,000 miles per annum
£217.30 Per month for 10000 Miles (23 Months) or £265.46 Per month for 20000 Miles (35 Months)
Contract Hire | Admin Fee: £300 | Co2: 148 g
Would be better if it was inc VAT, and the admin fee wasn't £360. On a 9+23 that's £281/month (10k/yr), plus £360 admin fee.

Different companies offer different terms. I’ve had my lease cars both trailered and driven to my home address with the mileage allowance started from the odometer reading on my driveway.

Howver, my last lease car was driven to me and the mileage was started at the dealership 180 miles away, and they weren’t budging on including it!

I suppose it all depends on the deal, and how much money is in it. The last car was the Passat Alltrack @ £58 / month with 6ppm excess, so from their point of view they weren’t giving any more. From my point of view, I wasn’t spending much of my time trying to save £10 when I already had the deal of the year!

Think of it as a big bouquet of flowers or case of wine from a dealership, if its included they have probably made enough money on the deal to include it!

Not all lease companies do it that way, Arval for example started the clock ticking from the mileage the car was delivered to you on, so if the car came with 150 miles on the clock on a 20k agreement, you'd be charged excess miles from 20151. It's wht a lot of lease companies insist the vehicle is delivered by transporter if the delivery address is more than 100 miles away. The supplying dealer should swallow this cost as they'll have a fair few deliveries that are sub 100 miles and it should all even out in the wash. A lot manufacturers have a Southern and Northern pdi/import centre so you can reduce the mileage/cost as a dealer by selecting which one you'd like the car delivered out of.

You can tell there aren't many deals on at the moment laugh

Was looking at Alfas last night and that is about the going rate by my estimate. They were a bit cheaper when I last looked at the end of last year.

Yeah, all three of my leases were delivered either on a trailer or flatbed. Two of them came less than 100 miles and were still competitive deals.

Thanks for your reply, I would like to hear from members who did order the S4 at around the £9200 + mark during that particular period and had it go through ok and been given an order number and possible build date etc

Got my build date etc
Build date 14th May but It wasn't as cheap as £9200. Was that 5k p.a? Mine was £10300 for 10k p.a. with vc and privacy glass

Edited by Quickmick on Thursday 26th April 16:40
I think the £9200 was 5k miles and no options.

I got a great deal that worked out cheaper than the original advertised deals.

My deal is £10362 with 10k miles virtual cockpit and metallic paint. Options alone are £895

Mine was £10389 with 8k vc and metallic. Unfortunately the dealer filled in on the wrong quotation system and Audi didn't accept it in the end. Hey ho will wait for the next good deal

I had a test drive with research garage last week who's offer wasn't too far away from this one, they said they are only able to offer in stock vehicles due to the September emissions changes, there are no cars on the way and they are not able to take any orders.

He also showed me the list of in stock vehicles, and there were very few without a lot of options, and none that were Alfa red and standard.

Make sure they actually have vehicles available and if an in stock car suits you before making comparisons!

Can we create some sort of scandal so that manufacturers have to offer some decent lease deals again? Maybe try and hook the mainstream press with fake news articles “90% of Golf R Hatchbacks are stolen at gunpoint” or similar
Maybe we could get Trump to tweet something bad about diesel scratchchin

Just get one of the Kardashians to tweet something about how they're no longer a fan of their Lambo/Bentley to knock a few $bn off VAG's value. Seemed to work when one of them had a pop at Snapchat!

This cracked me up... with the average deals that are about it may get to this at some point 😂

Pretty sure the excess miles charge is about 40ppm.

Regarding sounding like a nob, it's not as simple as that. Cars like the S6 these days are within the grasps of many people who have a reasonable about of disposable income, like myself.

I too have signed up for an S6, and whilst I am happy with the excellent deal, it's still a fair amount of money to spend on a car. I wear an expensive watch and like a lot of people we spend well over £100/week in Sainsburys. We have two kids who cost us a lot of money and a house that costs a lot to heat in winter. So whilst as a family we probably turn over £2-3k per month, I still buy the reduced price sandwich for my lunch, best before today! Likewise when my S6 is ready, as much as I'd love to visit Poole Audi to collect it and drive it back to East Sussex, I might not, because of the mileage.

If however I was the type to pop to my local dealership and hand over £70k for a car, I'd probably be less concerned. smile
Whilst I appreciate 40ppm is a lot - I just don't understand your point at all - I'm all for a bargain and saving money don't get me wrong, but life's too short to worry about excess mileage charges - v8 engines won't be around forever enjoy it while you have it.

It just reminds me of some people who decided to buy a cheap run around because there mileage changed and left the lease on the drive due to excess mileage fees. Completely pointless in my book.

Has there been a reason advanced for the lack of deals at the moment? Just snooping about and it's pretty barren out there.

I've got a feeling these new regs that are coming in soon are causing all sorts of problems for manufacturers & dealers. I've been speaking to a VW dealership and they're pulling their hair out due to factory stoppages on certain models. I rang a Jeep dealer to try and find a replacement for my Jeep GC that's going back soon. They had a couple of half-decent deals... but Jeep aren't building any Grand Cherokee's for the time being, so they can't place any orders! eek

It's all sounding a bit messy.

I daresay my A5 is caught up in this, but it's costing me money...however if I cancel, I'd probably have to buy rather than lease I think. Pain in the balls.

I need to replace my VW Golf R in September and was looking at the Audi S6 deal last week. Are they gone now?

Struggling to find something as quick and fun as the Golf R for reasonable money.
