My new touran is being built and must be registered before the end of August otherwise it gets "destroyed". Shame cos I fancied a 68 plate but meh.
I'm gobsmacked they're still building non-WLTP stuff at this point. Keeping track and making sure everything gets registered before end August must be a logistical nightmare.I’ve been watching this WLTP issue for weeks in the expectation that there would be a lot of deals coming to market imminently.
I’m surprised at how well the manufacturers are managing to keep their positions under wraps. The only giveaway I’ve had was from an Audi dealership which reckoned they needed to shift a lot of metal before end of August and that deals would be ‘keen’.
Does anyone know how Land Rover are positioned?

As long as the cars were built before the end of May they can apply for permission to extend the registration deadline by a year. I don't know how involved that is, but the article I read seemed to imply it was pretty routine.I’m surprised at how well the manufacturers are managing to keep their positions under wraps. Guy at a BMW dealership told me they had 200 cars that need to be registered by September. So I assume deals might start to creep inI’m surprised at how well the manufacturers are managing to keep their positions under wraps. Supply issues for a few months has meant that most dealers have been trying to sell what stock they actually have, so I don't think there are masses of cars to get rid of. I spoke to a customer of mine about this the other day as he has a large car fleet, he reckons that most manufacturers are in this boat. His drivers try to order X, lead time is long so the dealers are offering Y from stock instead.I’m surprised at how well the manufacturers are managing to keep their positions under wraps. I'm sure you're right, but its not a zero sum game either.
Many manufacturers are also having issues with WLTP compliance for future production (either they can't get the tests done fast enough, or they need to make changes to comply). That's going to mean constrained supply which usually means longer lead times, less stock, firmer prices, etc . So we may see the trade take up some of this stock and pre-reg. Rather then an avalanche of deals appearing for us
Of course I hope they make a massive cockup and I can get an Urus for £200/month

Unless you missed the "pre-reg" part? As in dealer buys the car and registers it, then sells it as nearly new. In which case the car doesnt need to be destroyed.

- Letter from manager/HR
- Or a payslip
I'm not sure how to direct message so if you shoot me a PM I'll try to reply back with his details email/phone number.... which is hopefully GDPR complaint!

I'm looking for a Nissan Juke (petrol) for No.2 daughter, lots of deals around with brokers (and marked as in-stock). 4 years, low miles - apart from trawling ContractHireAndLeasing has anyone got any other suggestions?
Convince her not to get a Juke! I leased the (alleged) 190hp one when I was younger and it was the worst 2 years of my life! COLONEL_SMITH said:
That sounds like a hell of alot of money considering the deals that were available. Have you asked for a quote on a 2019 model and that way you do not have to pay for the extra bits you don't want as they will be able to build as per your order.
I opted for taking the 8k miles in the end. If I do less, I'm quids in, if I do more the excess mileage rate is the same and so no worse off. Just need to remember to put money aside! On a 1+23 it was £336p/m for 8000mi with all those extras. Don't forget the options add a whole £68p/m so on a stock car it was looking at about £265p/m, but no such thing existed and I wanted Front Park Assist and Smartphone Integration, unfortunately I have to take another 3 other options one of which I'll use, but there we go.
Even comparing lease cost (with extras) to RRP (without extras) on 8k miles works out at 20.3% of RRP. If you added RRP of extras on its actually 18.9% RRP.
It's when I whack it up to 20k miles that kills it, as that adds a further £98p/m. On the off chance the new job I've got doesn't work out, or I do fewer miles in the first year while I'm getting my feet under the table, I think sticking to 8k makes sense as there is a few quid in it when paying the excess mileage fee instead.

Yep agree I was surprised they are building them too. And here I am recycling plastic bags to save the planet when these clowns are making then giving away or destroying cars.I hope they get creative with the destroying and maybe let us have one big stock car race with 18 plate VAGs.
