Good call on the 4C. Are they that good? Look fantastic but is the 1750 4 cylinder a letdown?

I'd be looking for a well spec'd Jag XKR.

As you’ve made no comment on my Noble post, another car that I fell in love during my ownership of will just be in your budget from a good specialist... make sure if you live driving you get the 4.7 and the mc shift box ...this dealer is 100% abd you’ll get a proper warranty.

Is the Noble usable for a road car if I wanted a weekend away for example?

TVR Cerbera - ideally a 4.5 (would be rude not to), my budget should buy an excellent example and I am told they have a bit of room in the back plus a large boot.
I'm biased because I had one for 6 years as a Toy but it does tick a lot of boxes, plus your budget will get you a very good example. The noise/sense of occasion/power to weight make it a thrilling drive everytime.

The Noble would be a very strong contender as well for me, I've always been a big fan.

Audi R8 all day long. Though the budget should be streched up to £40k.

A well built daily supercar, ticks all the boxes and is cheap (relatively) to run. Just do it (y)

I'd recommend the Gransport they're a very good steer:

The Cerbera is another good shout they're a very good car & for your budget you should land a peach of a car:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

The 4C is a very good car but are really transformed into a great drive if you add the Alfaworks handling package I've driven both & there's a marked difference which gives you more confidence as the car feels more planted:

Lotus Evora S more suited to two away euro work than the Exige but still very capable of putting a smile on your face:

Phase Two Clio V6:

Phase One:

Corvette C6

If you can find one I'd get the Z06 model it's a true drivers car & that 7.0 V8 is something to behold:

Jaguar XKR/XKR-S

F Type S

4.7 Maserati Granturismo I'd take one of these over the Gransport but both are great cars.

There’s a 6 piece luggage set that was an option. That helps. As long as you’re not carrying a DJ and a ball gown (nowhere to hang )you’d be fine.

Would you really recommend an XKR as a toy?

I keep considering one (as a daily), but always end up coming to the conclusion that it wouldn't be fun, special or exhilarating enough, and is too heavy.

Why not people have different perceptions of what they want from a toy & an XKR/XKR-S fulfils the brief of a GT car, would I have one over the Maserati, no chance but different people want different things which is why there was a whole host of options I listed.

What was your suggestion?

Rather than a ropey DB9 how about a DB7 Vantage? Seeing that £20k can see you in a leggy one, £35k should buy you a belter.

DB9 is nice but seeing a DB7 on the road is a treat.

But they drive appallingly though.

Well they don’t really do they, I mean appallingly.. that’s a bit of an exaggeration isn’t it? Old fashioned maybe, but what’s wrong with that?

No exaggeration.
They didn’t drive particularly well when they were new.
I test drove at least half a dozen 25 years ago in 6 and v12 formats and they were wallowy, creaky, has parts bin interiors and if you took the badge of it would have been slated. Having ached to own one since launch, I was gutted ( and bloody shocked when I realised I’d never have one ) as it’s probably one of the most achingly beautiful cars built in modern times.

Fair, was just a little thread hijack for my own benefit. Always looking for opinions to help me decide.

Cerbera, Noble, or Z06 would be my recommendations.

Why would you have it over a GTS out of interest ?

Test an evora out. Easier to live with. Great handling/steering feel and lovely ride.
