Cancelling VW finance after purchase

My OH is very keen on the new 2018 Polo; there are "new" pre registered cars available on 18 plate for £13400 whereas a new (68) Polo with finance is £14000 through Carwow; I don't need the finance but have read on PH in the past that it's fairly easy to cancel in the first 14 days and still retain the discount. I would be grateful if anybody has recent experience of going down this route?

I did say to the salesman up front that was what I'd be doing.
Most don't care, but one dealer wouldn't negotiate as he said that they wouldn't get their discount on the car. Went elsewhere!
