Umming and ahhing over a convertible for the wife. She then decided she wanted the M140i.

Very random for her to be honest.

Went for a test drive and to be honest I was very very impressed. Having owned an E46 M3 and and RS4.

Anyone got one? Is a good compromise as a family motor?

Spec (Posted below in thread also) :

Estoril Blue
Adaptive M Suspension (I sacked off the adaptive LEDs for the suspension)
Folding Electric Door Mirrors
Heated Front Seats
Front and Rear PDC
Professional Media Package
Estoril Blue Dash insert for interior
Black leather with blue stitching
Orbit Grey alloys (I prefer these to the Jet black)t was a toss up between alpine white with adaptive LED and above spec

Thanks

They are good cars. Not the best driver's car, but a good daily.

I hope you got a massive discount?

Thats a cracking deal. We will look back very soon with wonder at how cheap these were new, given they are the last of their kind.

Yes, you are correct.

Fairly decent deal in all honesty. Golf R was very high on list also

I drove the type R yesterday and I’m close to pulling the trigger. They have more space than the BMW and Golf. I was also offered a good deal part X on my Audi A6.

Yes very decent, bought my M135i from Tony in 2015 although I now have a M2.

My wife’s Leon Cupra is due back to the lease company this year so currently looking at replacements. Golf R mainly and probably a used 67/18 plate 310 but these M140i’s are still great value pretty much the same new as a 1yr old R. Only thing is I’ve had a M135i so similar but then again her Cupra has the same engine as the R so also similar in some respects.
Golf R thefts are also slightly concerning, had 2 visits in the night when I’ve had my M135i/M2.....they didn’t get in (camera system alerted me).

With just over 10k list off, I am close to buying one too. But my i3 is only 18 months old and £3k negative on pcp based on trade in value.

May have to wait a year and get a used one, for not much less than they are new!!!

Cracking car. The price seems very fair too. If you really want that spec I don't think you would save much by buying a 1yr old car. Bog standards are about 25k at 1yr old. My kids are a similar age to yours and I find the 5 series cabin is just about right in terms of size, unless you are both really short the 1 series could be a bit of a squeeze as a family car.

Ordered mine this week too from Tony. White, pro nav, heated seats, black leather with blue stitching and brushed aluminium trim with black finisher. I wanted Sunset Orange, but monthly costs were king because I’m doing out of my company car scheme. Mines a factory order due for the end of June.

I tried my local dealer first but they worked out just under three grand more expensive over the 48 months plus they old me how selling me a car at that price was going to cost them money... yeah right. They also automatically add in GAP insurance and the paint protection to the overall cost of the car without asking first which cheesed me off. Another dealer was close but too pushy / needy and did my head in. The deal with Tony was dead straight forward and easy.

I really like these as a compromise daily; quick but without ruinous running costs. I’m really looking forward to it arriving.

Buying new makes more sense then a year old in some ways - my local dealer has a year old 140 with a meagre spec up for £27k, a grand less than I’ve paid for a new one. The AUC APR is horrific if you finance it via BMW.

Very nice car and lovely seats, pictures don’t do them justice but they are just too pricey, used ones at 29-30k with 10k miles and brand new ones for 33, poor interest rates and ridiculous PCP schemes, I was quoted 10k deposit, 299 a month 3 year deal 8k per annum, I asked the salesman to contact me when they drop down to 25.

There are some ok deals about. I will buy cash

I don’t really want to pay more than 27k. I was offered a 67 plate with 12k on the clock for 27.5k. It’s blue which is a good colour but linked to the marmite looks it may get some weird looks. So I think I want the grey. There is one at a Honda dealer for 28k 18 plate with 3k on the clock that is tempting me. But yes compared to Golf R’s they are expensive. But I guess it will hold it’s money better.

You can get a brand new one for that money unless you want all the options. I don't think they are any more expensive than the Golf.

Long term values I wouldn't expect too much. They've sold far too many to retain high valuations. The amount falling into the wrong hands isn't going to help either.

Just picked an ex-demo up. Cracking little car.

Think you're spec is good.

Spec wise, I'd definitely go for adaptive suspension. Mine doesn't have it, and the ride is just a little bit too firm for every day comfort. It's mainly a weekend car for me so not a huge issue, but it's definitely a box I'd tick ordering from the factory.

Adaptive LEDs not a huge thing. And it looks great in grey.

You wont find a GT spec new for 28k, in fact you may find it difficult getting much off the list price on a new Type R (I struggled)

I am not sure about the 'wrong hands' comment, I would have thought the lack of PCP deals/contributions and bigger deposits would steer the 'wronguns' toward the Golf/Seat/BMWs smile

It will inevitably depreciate like any other car of this type but I like the fact the dealers are not offering huge discounts etc

Cracking car though

My mistake. I thought he was talking about the M140i. I should have read the earlier posts.

I'm a bit late to the M140i party, but we are going to be ringing the local stealers RE: one at the start of the week.

So i've a few questions if anyone can answer them :-

Are they still available to order to build or are there only built cars left, or are there no new cars left? Would prefer brand new, but would be happy with 2019 or 2018 low miles car if needs be.

Wanting a 5 door auto as minimum spec. What are the "must have" options?
