I've just placed a small deposit on a Leon FR 1.5 Tsi 130.

£231inc 1+23 12.5k miles. £200 fee

Late June delivery (at the earliest I reckon)

Not brilliant but not too bad as I wanted to avoid large initial payments and also prefer 2 year deals.
DO you know about the 1st gear problems with the new 1.5 engines across different manufactures? People are stalling and all sorts, might want to read up on the reviews before going through with it, it's a couple of pages back someone posted the thread
I read the same thing and wanted to test drive one and I could not find a dealer who had a 1.5 Tsi in stock. They honestly look at you as if you are some sort of mentalist when you want to test drive a specific model/engine.

Anyone seen any good deals for A5 Sportback? My cousin has made the mistake of getting stuck on a car instead of looking at deals. He has his first child arriving in September so would prefer a 3 years lease so he doesnt have to worry about finding a new car in 18 months.

Looking at usual sites this is best I've seen so far:

A5 Sportback
35 TFSI Sport 5dr S Tronic

£348 9+36 (8k/year)
£198 fee
= £15518

https://leasing.com/independent-brokers/carleasesp...

There was one at £14.4k on same profile. He raised a query and they called him straight back. Waiting for a quote, but just spotted the links now broken, so suspect it was clickbait.

Oh yes you’re right. Got my maths wrong. Divided by 18 not 24.

Toureg on a 2 year lease works out to £575 amortised (including fees). Total lease cost £13,802

XC90 on a 2 year lease works out to £587 amortise. Total lease cost £14,099

XC90 is £300 more expensive over the term. Decisions decisions. Which one would you guys go for????

XC90 also comes with free metallic paint.

Help! Lol
Drive them both and see what you think. The Touareg is the same price as the old model was on the same terms 3 years ago (I know as I nearly bought one!) so I'd say it's a great price. XC90 much cheaper than it was 3 years ago!

I did see that, yes thanks. Seems unlikely to me that problems will persist unaddressed for too long as no doubt it's a right PITA for VW group and their dealers. Hopefully sorted by the time I get mine (if I do)

I know this is not helpful but that seems like a lot for a standard A5, my S5 wasn't much more than that 18 months ago. I know the market has shifted but still.... I would look at the A6 as there have been some fairly good deals posted a few pages back.

I know we’re in a different period now but that is pretty expensive.

We have an A5 sportback S-Line with the 150ps engine (before they started this confusing “35” nonsense) on a 6+23 at £275 which we picked up last August.

That was direct from Audi Huddersfield found via Whatcar leasing.

I've told him the same. But being the idiot he is he ignored what I said:

"Do not under any circumstances go looking at cars. Knowing you, you'll set your heart on some car then turn your nose up to any that actually have decent deals."

Long time lurker, was looking for an electric vehicle and have seen this Jaguar I-Pace deal:

https://centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/lease-jaguar...

Contract Length 36 Months
Initial Rental £5,000.00 + VAT
35 Months @£329.99 + VAT per Month
Annual Mileage 5,000
Admin Fee £150.00 + VAT

I understand this needs VAT and I would change the initial deposit from the random 5000 to either 3/6 or 9 dependant on the monthly cost you want.

Never leased before, but within the next 6 months a new car will be required. Think I've become addicted to this bl**dy thread...

Can I just have some advice on this Golf deal stacks up....or if I'm way off the mark as to what else may be available. I don't fancy the Leon

Do the lease companies overlook any minor defects if the mileage is below the contract on return?

Friend of mine has a car due to go back soon and hasn’t covered anywhere near the mileage and the car has a couple of blemishes that would get picked up.

Cheers

What did his leasing company say?
He has emailed and called them a few times with responses being “we’ll get back you”, but so far no one has.

Is that ok for you?

5k miles per year?
I never understand this either, who thinks paying £11198.88 to drive 15k miles is good value?

If you drive so little that you barely need a car, why spend so much money leasing one?

And a diesel with stop start, is that for the economy?
You could say the same with all sorts of other things in life. Why buy a nice/modern 4 bed detached house in an affluent area, when you can buy a slightly dated 4 bed semi-detached house in a less desirable area half a mile down the road? £10 shirt vs. £60 shirt, 50p loaf of bread vs. £1.50 loaf of bread etc.

If someone has the means and can afford to lease a car doing 5k pa, then why shouldn't they?

Average car mileage is now 7k pa in the UK and it's on a downward trend. So 5k pa term doesn't seem that silly.

Also worth noting that some people opt for 5k pa because the excess mileage works out the same/slightly cheaper than say going for 8k pa.

Isnt the 5k is to get it to list the special deals
£556.66 per month amortised
£20,039.58 to derive 15kmiles over 3 years but no petrol cost. service interval 20k miles?

5k miles 35+1 at £459.71 +£150+vat is slightly cheaper at £20039.47
10k miles 35+1 at £540.15 +£150+vat = £23514.48
for 15k miles extra you pay £3475.01 or 23.2p per mile

It's all relative to ones circumstances. I'm sure you could find plenty of people who think your cost/mile is frivolous and makes no sense.

Neither I nor my parents do many miles any longer (5k/year would do us), but we've always had nice cars. It's hard to take a step back. And if we're in the fortunate position that £3-5k/year doesn't put a dent in our lifestyle why not.

You are correct that the initial £5000 is to make the deal look better than what it really is.

I will be putting it through business because although the BIK rate for 2019-2020 is not great at 16% 2020-2021 will be 2% and by my calcs is offset by 50% VAT reclaim, no corp, no income tax.

I worked out I pay about £80 a month on diesel and will cost approx £8 in electricity to fill so I can offset £72 already.
Will use government grant to get a charge point fitted. I went for 3 month initial because there wasn’t much in it between 1 and 9.

The excess mileage charge is 25p per mile.

I don’t think it’s such a great deal for personal but if you can put it through a company the BIK changes next April make it feasible to put it through the business. The only risk is the rates for 2021-2022 have not be released but I find it very unlikely they would up the rate for 0 g/km emission vehicles (politicians are a tad unreliable so I could be surprised).

Thanks for the 25ppm
How does the 50% vat reclaim work?
