If you want a Q Car that's even more stealth than the Skoda I'd say the Infiniti Q70/50 (360bhp 0-60mph in the low 5's) is the way to go.

Q50

Both will be as good a steer as the Superb with a fit & finish more in line with an Audi & the performance to put a smile on your face, the Q70 is more stealthy.

Currently running an Insignia 2.8 in Elite trim so as to have something brisk but under the radar.
No wings, no skirts, no bling, no lowering, no big alloys, no pothole-prone-low-profile tyres, no bucket seats, nor anything else to differentiate it from other Insignias, except a small badge on the boot which says V6 4X4.
Being a Vauxhall, no self-respecting car thief would want to steal it anyway, so no fear leaving it parked somewhere. And even car experts won't be aware of its existence because they overlooked Vauxhall.
Not the fastest car by modern standards (0-60 = 6.7s from a slushbox auto, top speed limited to 155mph) but brisk enough and handles well for such a big heavy car. High road tax, thirsty in slow town traffic (20mpg), but respectable mpg on longer runs (35mpg).

Swap the front grille for one without the R36 badge and I don't think anyone would know what model it was.
On a side note, lol at the amount of tyre rubber on Bluewater car park floor in those pictures - clearly it is a suitable location for drifting practice!

Not a six or eight cylinder but another one to make the badge snobs squirm and the car thieves overlook it:
Vauxhall Astra (K) Elite
1.6T, 200PS, 0-60 = 6.6s, 146mph.

No where near quick enough to be a Q car. My diesel SUV will do 0-62 in 5.2 seconds, so a decent Q car needs to be under 5 seconds to be considered.Vauxhall Astra (K) Elite

There are very few cars these days that can be considered a Q car in standard form. My suggestion would be a remapped estate car with small wheels.

But a little rude, so let me disagree.
Look.at it. Faceless, almost brandless. Could be made by anyone. Nobody woukd give it a second glance.
At its quick. (Enough)
Quick enough to overtake slow biddies on a B Road on a short straight.
Thanks all, Skoda Superb 280 was best leftfield suggestion, however had a look and only 8 were for sale and a lot in red. Ended up at Blackbushe auctions and got a bargain E class Mercedes Estate instead, which is less Q car in terms of performance but represented decent value for money and hopefully something that wont get bothered with etc.

I suggest read the definition of a Q-ship then consider what a Q-car would be. Could a Q-ship be expected to sink Bismarck, or even Scharnhorst, or even Prinz Eugen? There are very few cars these days that can be considered a Q car in standard form. I would say a Q-car is as much about surprise as it is outright performance. A normal looking Astra that can reach 60 in 6.6s would come as a surprise most people.

In standard form I'd say the Infiniti's are easy winners for Q car status especially the Q70 anything in the low 5's is quick enough IMO:There are very few cars these days that can be considered a Q car in standard form. My suggestion would be a remapped estate car with small wheels.

Anyway the OP is sorted now, the Genesis is a very good shout if you plan on keeping it a while I have supplied three of them & they're amazing value as well as having an amazing fit & finish. They make a great family wagon, they're quick loaded with kit as well as that warranty (& that can be extended) that instills a massive peace of mind.

When you start talking about depreciation the German big saloons depreciate at a very similar rate but no warranty & more potential for a big bill.
