So, PistonHeads (Brickwall) has worked wonders! Touareg is the one I think; will look good next to wife’s Golf too.

Now, Altitude spec or R-Line? What are the main differences? Any LCI updates?
Iirc the altitude was the predecessor to r-line so has the same bodykit.

The only thing that lets a toureag down is the lazy box (it’s an 8 speed aisin box not the zf8) and the dated tech (the stereo is basically like using an old golf nav but with a bigger screen)
I had a 2015 262 R Line Touareg and could have sworn it had a ZF8 speed box.

It categorically does not.

An XC90 would be a better bet than any of the three you’ve mentioned

I'd say those are wise words. Also better than Touareg.....until you consider that for an age/mileage equivalent car the there's probably a circa £5k price differential. The Touareg's are in various ways a bit limited but they are very cheap.

What about a Toyota Land Cruiser or Land Cruiser Amazon? Both capable in winter and should be worry-free in terms of maintenance and reliability.

So, after all of the searching for a good VW Touareg I really struggled with the interior. It was so bland, boring and uninspiring. Only thing I liked was the heated steering wheel so I parked that idea.

Q7 had a similar issue but more that the interior was older feeling.

FFRR decided that after my previous experience I would not enjoy it so this left me with a good X5 hunt, which lead me to purchase this....

Older than I was looking for. Higher mileage than I was hoping for but in a spec that was simply perfect, for me.

Pictures to follow.
