Best Lease Car Deals Available? (Vol 8)
Discussion
I got 3 months free offer on VW PCH but Audi dealer refused the same offer.
Regarding buying car at the end from VWFS, I got really poor offer on S8 and rather poor on A8. S8 price was 8K higher than what car ended up on the market with the trader. A8 price from last week is at the retail level, however with Approved Used you will get 2y warranty now, so no point paying the same price without it, as it's worth around £2500 for 2y. And there's no advantage to keep the car, as it had quite a few issues in last 3 years.

In the interests of balance, I have dealt with VWFS on a number of occasions the past two years. (From swapping licence plates at the start of the lease, swapping them back at the end; informal extension; having been charged two parking fines without being given the chance to contest them with TfL and VWFS refunding me the £320 it automatically took. I've always had a friendly and professional tone from VWFS both on the phone and on email.
Yes, there is another thread I may be directed to to say otherwise. Yes credit scores may have been mucked up badly (for which there is clear channels to redress this and have your score corrected). But in the interests of balance, I've experienced professionalism.
That’s far far too kind to VWFS imo. Mucking up credit scores shouldn’t be habitual and can be very serious - had I been out looking for a house I’d have had my mortgage application refused. Proper channels take ages to go down. VWFS are to be avoided. In the interests of balance the thread about them was 30 odd pages long last time I checked it.Yes, there is another thread I may be directed to to say otherwise. And professional? Not even nearly. Stupid, rude and hard to contact. Yes. Professional? No.

I’d go with HMG1K on this..I’ve had many many leases through VWFS and never had any issues until the COVID poop show that they’ve put on.. my credit score was damaged (and fixed) but... historically they’ve been great.
Generally have the best deals
Cheapest excess mileage charges
Cheapest damage charges
Allow changes in mileages mid contract (generally at cheaper rates then contracted!)
Reasonable early termination charges..
Avoid them at your own peril!

This! The offers from BCA to buy at the end are nearly always retail or higher. I never understand it as they go back through auction, then appear on forecourts for less than the original offer. Why dont they save some time and money and put the offers higher than auction but less than retail... win win for everyone. I’m obviously missing a tax loophole or write down somewhere..

in the early 90's we had co cars from Lex. 2 years old and 150000m they (base Astra dervs) were de fleeted. They were totally shagged having been driven day in day out up farm roads with heavy loads in the boot.
Lex offered the employees first refusal at crazy high prices.
So nothing has changed

Anyone know if those earlier deals on the X3 M40i’s are still available? Can’t see them anymore.
They're well hidden if they are! I've looked for those, 340 xdrive and 540 xdrive wagons as part of the plan to replace my 440 GC.I'm going to drop a mail to the dealer that supplied my 440 today (Lloyd BMW) to see if they have anything or are expecting any deals Q4. They were cheapest by some way on the 440 18 months ago.

technically the very poor offer was from vehicle remarketer rather than lease funder. Regarding buying car at the end from VWFS, I got really poor offer on S8 and rather poor on A8. Trying to find my mum and dad a decent lease deal. Sub £200 5k a year, they have a fiesta at the moment but too small if they have their two small grandkids in with buggies etc.
Anyone seen any of the smaller crossovers for decent money?
Found these so far :
Kamiq

Kadjar (although this is manual and I know they want auto)

Sorry to go off topic, but I expect your cars have been sat in the GEFCO compound over in Sheerness for a number of months, which is where the majority of PSA cars come into the country, get stored, PDI'd and subsequently distributed (particularly lease vehicles going straight to customers).
I would strongly suggested you take high resolution images of any paint/body defects on your vehicles and report to PSA immediately. From personal experience, PSA/Mannheim will look to take you to the cleaners over ANY paintwork defects, including orange peel. I was kindly accused of having the entire passenger side of my C4 cactus resprayed during my lease by the Mannheim collect agent (due to the orange peel), with a total rectification bill of over £600. It took months of wrangling via the Financial Ombudsman to get this reviewed and quashed.
You will see a number of previous posts on the topic of dealing with these cowboys - hopefully by acting now, this will reduce some of the pain you will feel later on.
Cheers,
Matt
Update on this, we also had a Peugeot 3008 due to arrive tomorrow, I was nervous after this post above and the one that prompted it about a delivery covered in bird poo that it was going to arrive in a state. So today we have an email saying delivery is delayed as it needs to go in for repairs due to lime damage.
So whilst it's a little annoying tbh we're pleased they've picked it up and are dealing with it rather than us having a fight on our hands!
Early Termination settlement came through from Alphabet together with an explanation of how they reach a figure, which may be useful info for some.
They use a 'True Cost' basis, comparing term and mileage on original agreement vs term and mileage at termination. They say its a valuation that has no profit associated. Essentially there's no way anyone can rough guess this themselves in the same way you could with an xx% of remaining payments.
Anyway, they also say that due to C19 the market has taken a battering (I'm paraphrasing) and that's 'severly' affecting early termination quotes. The long and short of it is they want about 80% of the remaining payments, tis what it is and I'm happy to keep it for the remaining term, was just chancing my arm really and on a plus side hopefully there will be some decent deals about in the next quarter.

Surely the terms and conditions of early termination are contractual? They cant be changed because of market conditions? I'm on my 4th lease now and its been in the contract the % of outstanding rentals to early terminate on each one.sdh2903 said:

The contract T&Cs state they use this 'True Value' method as opposed % method. If I was synical I'd say the 'no profit' piece is just words and they're using the situation to their advantage, but I'll take them at face value as I had no need to get out early other than getting a bigger motor to suit the new dog. He'll just have to chew the family Kodiaq instead for a while :-)Just thought the info might be useful to anyone else with, or looking at Alphabet, I wouldn't take another lease without a clearly defined % type early exit option as, worst case I needed to get out, I'd like to know what it's going to cost me.

Correct - my experience (changing a leased car with them early) back in March was appalling - I have been their customer continuously since 2011 with six different cars. Random amounts taken from my account on multiple occasions, credit score affected my 'missing payments' even when the arrangement was fully paid off - the company is , sadly a shambles these days and needs a thorough sort out. Alas I like the cars so I am likely stuck with them!Mark V GTD said:
