I doubt I’ll ever track my Touring. So, I want the best road tyre, and I’m happy to sacrifice some performance in exchange for more grip in the wet/cold. Would the PS4S be a better option than it’s current Cup 2’s? If so, will swapping them affect the manufacturer’s warranty?

If wet/cold is preference then yes they’re a better toad tyre, and as they’re not specified N rating tyres (I think) then it will affect warranty. Happy to be corrected though.

MP4Ss will transform the Touring in the wet and cold..You can get them in approved N spec.

Exactly what I’ve put on mine OP. N rated (Porsche fitted). Transformational in this weather.

Cup 2s are a nightmare in this weather. Don’t take mine out now if wet and below 10 degrees.

Just did 500 miles , mostly on the rain and some cold early mornings , and still do not get what people say about Cup2 's , they seem fine .

I’m guessing you did more than 5 miles? Otherwise that’s not the most complete wet weather road test smile

Couldn’t agree more - whether they’re fitted to a GT3 or a Golf TCR, I find the latest iteration of the Michelin cup superb. Even when it’s wet and cold, it’s astonishing how much grip and traction they can find.

That might be true. But the PS4S should find more grip in the wet/cold. And from what I’ve read, there will be minimal trade off when compared to the Cup 2’s for road use. So, it makes sense to me to spend £1k on tyres that give me more confidence in the wet/cold. Plus, I’m familiar with the performance of the PS4S’s as I have those on my GTS.

I have the Cups on my RS and they seem to be much better than previous gens until you hit standing water..The latest Cups are very good in the wet until it gets cold ie 6c or lower..Despite being better than expected the MP4Ss which i have recently fitted in K1 spec on my Ferrari are in a different league...The Cups seem surprisingly good in the wet or cold until you drive on MP4Ss which are a massive step up in similar conditions.
I have considered fitting a set on my RS but since its been such a mild winter i've delayed it for now.

Ps4s vs cup 2 are night and day, I bet the stopping distance is halved in this weather.

I am planning to put PS4S on my GT3 following similar reports on the PCGB forum. My Cup 2 have almost 5mm remaining, the question is do they have any value to keen track users?

No value used they just take up space but I'll have them if you need to get shot of them - will even arrange for some to pick them up if your in and around London/home counties smile
