Hello ppl

I'm looking to buy a Honda Civic found a 2009 type s 1.4 in red looks really nice just concerned the engine is too small and has no power?????

I also have found a 2009 type r which is 2k more in price but not sure how economical it would be???

Advice appreciated!

Perhaps a 1.8 type s is a good compromise?

Just to add..

If you're bothered about the 1.4 having enough power then I'd say it probably won't.

A type r will be fun but tax is £325, mpg around 30 at best and insurance expensive depending on your circumstances. Again if you're concerned about the running costs then probably not for you.

I ran a 2009 1.8ex for two years and it was a decent car. 60 in 8.7 which is okay although it never felt that quick. The engine is a bit harsh at high revs which does limit the fun a bit. But it did 40mpg and it's a very reliable unit so shouldn't give you expensive trouble. A good compromise really.

If i want to i can get 35 mpg out of my FN2, i actually think its a very cheap and reliable car to run not to mention extremely fun

I understand all this generation of the civic has a very firm ride but i just put up with it now, also 200bhp is quick enough for a overtaking and general hooning but without feeling like you will lose your license every time you put your foot down. Its a car you can genuinely give it a good thrashing without any worry
