Is there a better value than this coupe? Doesn't look like.

I had an SLK of this vintage... My only advice would be RUN! Never again. st car, poorly built and absolute snoozetown to drive. Honestly... I hope I never cross paths with one ever again. That stty steering rack ffs...

Really? They are ugly. But a mate of mine had on back in the day. Had to endure the girl's car jokes and all. But it felt as well built as any other Meredes then. Never drove it though. Was yours a SLK 200?

Technically it was my other half at the time's, but we were married and I think I paid for it so...

It was the 230. It was hateful. The PSE unit stopped working properly. I had to fix the roof mechanism. The gearbox needed a rebuild. The steering was vague and had no feeling. It just wasn't very good at all.

Ok. The reliability stuff is what it is. But the driving, have your tried the 320? I never drove any SLK of that vintage. But with the Z3, the difference between the 4 cylinder and the 6 is quite shocking. The 6 is a MUCH better drive.

It’s an interesting styling exercise but I think there were better coupes around at the time. Even the Hyundai coupe (03 on model) would be preferable to a Crossfire in my opinion
FWD, slow, and at the extortionate end of the tax bracket. Pretty but sh*tty, is the phrase, I believe.
Being RWD doesn’t automatically make a car amazing and yes while they are heavily taxed now they were not back in the day. Obviously this threads answer to everything though is Crossfire. Makes a change from MX5 I guess rolleyes

I quite like that actually. Nothing wrong with it. Although not my colour.

Interestingly , the rear is exactly the part which makes it distinct and different to me. I have no problem with it. I kind of like it. But I don't have Clarkson in my mind.

The front looks much more ordinary.

But if you have a problem with the rear, maybe the boot spoiler would help? They came with the SRT6 but I'm sure you can buy them too:

But I think the rear is really what sets it apart from the rest and give it an interesting and different look. Some people also have a problem with the Brera and I also find it nice looking. I guess most don't enjoy different looking things Or I'm just sick of the sea of Audis and BMWs.

As for the badge snobbery, it's all over the place. Even in car shows. Huge bias towards the German stuff. But like I said it's not everybody. But you would be wrong to think just because Japanese cars were suggested there is no badge snobbery. There is huge badge snobbery against U.S. cars. A lot by Japanese car fans too.

But of course. Not all dismissals in this thread is badge snobbery. Some just said they don't like the way they look and went about their business. That's fine really. The childish burns, unfounded criticism etc are the problem. It's fine not to like the look of it.

All together people make up their minds based on what they hear or see and that's it. They never give things another chance and go on parroting the non sense. Even if they never even drove the car.
Ironically you are aggressively attacking people, dismissing their opinion as invalid and using childish remarks to do so?

Which is what you're accusing us of?

Are our views not as equally valid as the O/Ps?

Always liked the Crossfire so I got one a few years back. Kept it 2 years never had problems. I had a Fiat Coupe and an Audi TT before that. But I found the Crossfire more fun. It got lots of attention. Too much for my liking actually. Sold it because I needed a 4 door. I would still love a Brabus V8 Crossfire.

Re-reading this, think I now understand why they called it the Crossfire...

Yes they did. Mercedes V8 converted to 6.1 by Brabus with 426 hp. Heavily upgraded suspension, brakes ,chassis and also interior. Interior was redone in upscale fashion with alcantara and leather and looked like something out of a Maserati. Even the little automatic spoiler was upgraded because they needed more downforce. Top speed was 187mph.
