I actually think eBay is a good place for selling. Do a comprehensive ad with pictures not taken on your phone and it will stand out. There are still good buyers out there. I’ve never had time wasters as such, more chancers. Whittle them out on the phone first before you let them view if you can.

Telling our campervan last month was a nightmare never had so many time wasters and messages like that.
Campervans are a whole world of pain beyond cars. You get a considerably weirder class of dreamer and plenty of broken people too.Telling our campervan last month was a nightmare never had so many time wasters and messages like that.
A pal sold one on Gumtree and ended up with several people who were looking for counselling. I guess it's the prospect of the open road that does it to them.
If I wanted rid of one it would be dealer, auction or a lit rag in the fuel tank.

I take better photos on my phone than many people would do with a £2000 camera.gizlaroc said:

Phone pics are fine, this is the pics for my latest ad.....I've sold bikes and cars recently and always replied with the "dumbass" comment for those who offer 30% of its worth. They've often replied back with "reported for abuse". So I've come to realise that ignoring them is the best option.
I've been buying stuff for 35 years and noticed the margin for negotiation has been getting slimmer over the years to the point where I bought a car advertised at 19500 and only negotiated over my P/X (it was a under priced anyway). TBH if someone is genuine they won't ask about the price first

Its really common now, "best price?"
Seems likes poor/inexperienced attempt at negotiating.
I've sold a a couple of cars privately since covid kicked in and stated in the advert, happy to discuss the car in more detail over the phone. From the couple I sold, the genuinely interested buyers called me.
The messages/emails about bottom/last price i just ignored.
When i sold my cars about 5 or 6 years ago, i dont remember "last price" being a mentioned back then

I bought from a main dealer used car after doing a deal on the phone. Told him I didn't want to come done and kick tyres, drink tea and not go home with a car which would be a waste of my time.i told him if we agree a price which we are happy with then i will come look and if it is as described i will buy it. he knocked a bit off the price to what i thought was good enough, went down to look at it, it was 1 owner used at main dealer so showroom cond, paid deposit and came back a few days later to take it home. Don't discount the best offer/hagglers on the phone. I had phoned another dealer before this particlaur one which refused to deal/negotiate on the phone and he lost the sale.

See, as a bloke that tends to buy a few cars a week, this would raise my hackles. I don't want bloody arty shots taken to make the car look 'sporty' I just want eye level pics of the 4 corners, the 2 sides, and the interior. And when you're (or anyone else), is photographing the interior, take a pics of the bloody seat bolster, especially on BMW's. Rant over, it does look very nice - the house in the background would be appealing, as would the weed free drive. 993kimbo said:

My last dozen vehicle sales since 2010 have been through ebay except for one. The Cerbera sold through the PH classifieds. I like ebay because you don't have to provide a phone number so avoid the timewasters. it's a lot less cost to list than Autotrader too. You may get a bit less for it but if you really want rid, an auction is the way (ebay classifieds also available), and if it's a 'classic' use PH here or the 'Car & classic' website.I don't do Faceache and don't really understand those who think its a good place to sell a car. Yes it's free but about half the population have no visibility of it. Seems to be a good choice if you're buying though....
It’s pretty much a given for most people that regardless of what they are looking to buy privately that something has to come off the asking price. You will always get idiots and dreamers but if you can factor in a discount to your starting price it will help. If your car is good and fairly priced someone with a brain will buy it.

I agree.I made my comment about 'Phone Pics' because phone pics tend to all be wide angle and over-Photoshopped (or whatever groovy filters the phones now offer). If I'm buying a car, any un-natural digital effect on the pictures put me off. Try taking some pictures at eye level on a camera with a 50mm lens (what our eye naturally sees) and leave the sharpening and colour boosting tools at home. See how you get on
One of many reasons I utterly hate selling cars.
I usually try to be as brutally honest as I can when describing cars I have for sale, and pricing them to reflect that honesty - in my head it reduces the number of things a seller can use to haggle the price on.
Then you’ll get folk who haven’t read what you put in the advert and try to bring the price down for something you’ve already pointed out to them.
Seems to be the way now though, folk want an agreement on a price before they’ve even come to see the car. Very annoying.
If you’re interested, come look at it. Talk to me about it and tell me why you think it’s worth £1000 less than I’ve advertised.

Why? I am selling a car, the paint and colour pops in the flesh on a nice day. That is what I want to get over to someone through images.
Taking photos with a phone on an overcast day can often take away how the car really looks in the flesh.
We are after all selling something, trying to show it at its best.
I have yet to have anyone come and say "The photos don't represent the car."
If the car is older and has tired paint that is a different matter of course.
