Guys

Help me out here! Can't decide between the 2 what to get! Went to see a Alfa Giulia 2.0T petrol 280BHP and a Audi A7 3.0 272BHP both lovely cars the alfa got some crazy handling around corners and nice to drive. Too many people saying the alfa would have a lot of niggles from electrics to suspension etc..

If you were given the choice what would u get ?

I considered the Alfa but with no dealers close by I decided against it.

Ended up with an S4

Not that I know anything about it, maybe somebody else can confirm. But doesn't that Alfa have an easy initial tune to 360hp?

Not sat in one but does what's the interior like compared to the Audi?

I'd love to say the Alfa but it'd be the Audi & not because I think the Audi would be anymore reliable (I'd be deluded to think that) but the Audi would get the nod for the engine a 2.0T doesn't cut it when I can get a better engine. It would be with a tinge of regret & in truth it wouldn't be the A7 either.

One is a driver's car the other is an Audi lol

The Alfa will be more fun to drive, I find the latest Audi's almost so polished that they are a little dull to drive. However the Audi will likely be more reliable

Slightly strange comparison as the A4 is more of a rival to the Giulia than the A7.

Personally, I'd have the Giulia every single day of the week. The fact you're posting on this forum means you should probably do the same.

The only problem I have with the Alfa Giulia Veloce is the Quadrifoglio Verde. I can't justify that expense, but that's the model I'd want. But if you're looking at A7 vs Giulia, is the QV an option???

A friend of mine had a a Giulia 2.0T on lease went in it numerous times but didn’t really think it was anything special and have never really got the love of Alfas I’d have my old A5 over one yet alone an A7!, vote for the Audi here!.

People will tell you that the Alfa will be unreliable, but that’s not really based on fact.

Will you be doing many motorway miles? If so the Audi. Great thumping engine and nice place to sit.

Are you single and looking for fun in the twisties? The Alfa, in blue yum

We have Giulia Veloce and incidentally owned a A5 Sportback at the same time.

Depends what you want in a car but the Alfa is night and day to drive more fun than the Audi.

One thing the cabin in the Alfa is quite tight especially on the passenger side. My wife constantly moans about not being able stretch her legs when she has the kid’s car seat behind her. The A5 in comparison feels a lot roomier. Given you are considering an A7, then I’m guessing space might be an issue?

However, Even she as a non petrolhead regularly comments about how much nicer the Alfa is to drive than her A5 so make of that what you will.

Reliability wise, both have been absolutely fine although having to travel further for the Alfa dealer for regular servicing is a pain.

I've been googling and reading tons of reviews with everyone saying the car will spend a lot in garage/mechanic. Don't want to spend £21K and regret it but really love the car 😭

Unfortunately, that’s incorrect. I tried to ignore all of the usual Alfa reliability (in your words) stereotypes and bought a Giulia Veloce from new. Whilst it was very good in many ways to drive, the overall quality was poor and it did let me down. Running cost were also very high for what is essentially just a 2.0 4 pot and the dealer network & customer service is dire. Not a great package and not something I would do again.

Of the two choices brought up by the OP, I’d take the Audi. And I don’t like Audi’s.

The Giulia is an amazing car. Having owned a Qf for 3 years, I've had no issues with reliability. The dealer network does let the brand down though. If you have a good Alfa dealer close by, you're into a winner.

While everyone slates Alfa dealers, in reality Audi,Merc and Bmw dealers are not much better.

Alfa is nicer looking, everything else is fine! I wouldn’t compare it to an A7 though. Audi probably a better place to be.

Giulia for me. I owned one for 2 years and had no significant issues. Dealer was fine. The later cars come with a 5 year warranty - 2018 on I think. I'm seriously considering another when the time comes.

The a7 is very different beast and won't hold a candle to the giulia in the chassis front. Based on my anecdotal evidence of friends cars I wouldn't say it would necessarily be any more reliable either.

The other car to consider would be a bmw 4series gran coupe. Hatchback boot like an a7, with handling more akin to the giulia.
