In my experience (7 years with 3 kids) nothing mentioned so far will be spacious enough - the middle seat is always a huge comprimise. I've yet to find a car with a wide enough rear bench to accomodate 3 proper isofix boosters. You can buy small inflatable "travel" boosters but they not designed to be a permanent solution. And as they get older elbow room becomes an issue.

My next family wagon will be either a Disco 5 or XC90 and I'm leaning heavily towards the Volvo. In T8 guise it's got poke (not much but some) and the percieved quality is great.

I'm lucky (or unlucky when it comes to sleep) that they are all under 6, so even a token middle seat should be OK. Realistically the RS6 seems to be the only viable option

If you're discounting 4 x 4's then I'm struggling to think of anything that hasn't already been mentioned.

Some Bentleys seat 3 across the back although the middle child is always going to be compromised, although as kids we always wanted the middle seat for some reason I can't fathom now.

Probably need something silly like a Ford Excursion to fit 3 seats in a row, although I doubt they were ever isofix.

Another bonkers suggestion, which to be honest doesn't add much other than novelty - How about a Jeep Trackhawk?

Huge interior, Bonkers performance - Generally totally stupid :P

Whilst your kids might be younger, as they get older the thing that the RS6, E63 and definitely the BMW have against them is rear leg room - I've tried all three and even though I'm no giant, at 6'2" there's little space behind my seat. I'll be coming from a 2013 Subaru Liberty and none of the Germans are much bigger.

However, as I also want a bit of poke to go with the space, my shortlist to carry my three (aged 6-13) for the next few years are a Cayenne, an X5 (possibly) and a Jeep GC SRT (which is big, though put off by service track record over here). I've also go the Holden Commodore V8 on hand which is a proper 5-seater in that you can get three adults in the back.

Perhaps a newer one than this, or even the saloon.
It's big, fun, rare and the noise from that V8 is special

I had an S-Max when the kids were younger, that had 3 independant seats in the 2nd row all with isofix. 2 more in the boot too. I even quite liked the look of the thing (in Titanium X Sport trim guise).

For me, and if you have more than two kids, full size 4x4's are the only practical option if you want a premium feel with a bit of poke.
