As I'm scrapping my K11 Micra and MK1 Ka, I'm in need of a replacement PubKa for when the world reopens.

Criteria as follows:

  • Must be utterly invisible.

Because this is a car for leaving in places I wouldn't necessarily leave a nice car, such as near stations or in pub/restaurant car parks, it needs to be absolutely ignorable and unremarkable in every way.

  • It must be mechanically reliable.
  • Sufficiently decent that the missus will drive it - so free of mould and disgusting stuff.
  • Sufficiently decent to drive that I won't hate it - although truthfully, this is less important because it's simply a tool for a job and I have other things for fun.
  • Suitable for kids to learn in - If it's a manual and not squillions of horsepower, this is kind of already sorted.

Budget is a bit more than the original PubKa, probably looking around the £2000 mark, though this isn't a hard limit for the right car.

I'm thinking an Auris. Any suggestions from the PH massive?

Thanks in advance. thumbup

Unremarkable you say?

Easy. Nissan Juke.

You would have to pay someone to nick one of those.

This is mine. It’s for sale if you want it. Recent MOT and cheap to insure.

The Auris will be utterly boring to drive (I say that as someone who owns one and has a high boredom threshold). The hybrid version is a favourite target of catalytic converter thieves.

Apart from that, it’s the ultimate in white goods motoring. It’s so invisible you may have trouble remembering what it looks like.

If what's going on round here is anything to go by, a Jazz will have the cat stolen off it any time you leave it somewhere.

Alfa 147 reliable & smart enough that the OH will be happy to drive & because it's an Alfa people will assume it's broken down.

+1 to the Focus in silver..I have one and nobody looks twice.. scuffs and scratches galore, kerbed alloys..completely unspectacular to look at but does the job!

I had a silver Focus a while back. I would often be in a queue of traffic and realise there was another silver Focus in front and one behind. My record was seven of them on the same floor of the NCP as mine.
