Comfortable performance cars?!

Am I right in saying they are standard with air suspension, and option of 'dynamic' with steel springs?

I was thinking the air option would offer the better ride quality; any thoughts?

Didn't think my RS6 was particularly comfortable in comfort setting. OK for a performance car though. S500 good call IMO, I have my eye on one.. .

I’ve a rs6 performance, suits all my needs, Chuck the dogs in and away you go. Huge boot and very comfortable in comfort mode. I payed 56k on a 17 plate. Like all cars this year it’s value has risen. I’d hold on a few months and wait till cars drop.

Mines on air suspension and happy I went for it. 605 bhp on tap, very fast straight line performance and not to bad on country roads.

You want something smaller but are considering an RS6? have you seen the size of them.

Now they're the RS6 is a good car, the S Coupe is a great spacious place for four people & a step up from the RS6 interior wise too performance wise the 63 will match the RS6 once rolling.

I didn't see a budget in the thread but I went from a 640d GC to a F15 X5M in 2018.

I would highly recommend, we wanted a fast load lugging SUV with comfort.

recently acquired the devils spawn in the shape of an X6 40d - far more performance than a car of this size should have, very comfortable and reasonable luggage space. Not as good as the equivalent X5 which is a lot more practical but i prefer the coupe lines as its not a family wagon 95% of the time.
Handles ok for a tank - although don't tend to drag it around bends on its door handles - stupidly sized tyres means it has lots of grip and expected to be 100% useless in the snow without decent winter tread

They seem to be loved and hated in equal measure (perhaps more on the hate side) so possibly a more decisive choice

Depends if you want more performance car feel or waft/GT car feel?

S class coupe is an excellent shout and meets the brief almost perfectly.

Jaguar XJR 5.0 supercharged?

Another option would be a 5.0 supercharged range rover sport (not svr - too harsh). More power and waft / GT car feel... Would be a huge leap in ride comfort (on sensible wheels and air suspension) vs the 640 and a step up in road noise isolation, interior quality and specialness.

Bentley continental an excellent choice too.

The car I would really like is a 997 (tiptronic) Turbo!... I may just get one of these and try to make it work with a DSC tuning box for the PASM suspension and more sound deadening!

I will try one first though, and an Evora too, although not many about, especially autos!

One of my 'criteria' is that "special-car-in-the-man-cave" thing!

If they don't do the job then I may need to work my way up the comfort scale!... I think a 5.0 XKR is worth trying (as well as a Quadrifoglio and Alpina B4!) possibly a Conti GT, then the S63 AMG seems to be the ultimate comfort/sport oriented option.

The RR isn't a bad shout, but I plan to keep my old (1994) Pajero as a run-about/green-laner, possibly change it for something more day to day friendly like a Mk3 Shogun or a Disco 3 to cover a few more bases.

I'd also love to get back into biking!... so the funds are getting even more thinly spread!

Gran Turismo is an excellent shout - one of the best noises out there. Would also suit "special-car-in-the-man-cave"

XKR would be lovely.

Failing that, a vantage wouldn't be a bad shout either.

W204 C63 6.2 coupe has also got that special feeling, but is comfy enough. (Esp non performance pack, 18" wheels)

Pretty much all of the cars being thrown about are very low in the depreciation curve which is always nice. Decent low mileage C63s are still the same price as when i sold mine 4 years ago - and 507 edition seems to be appreciating
