Have the PH sleuths worked out where it is yet so we can have a look.

Please do a thread about sorting the place.

What about a Duster in 4x4?

Off to look at Rightmove.

Although I was very impressed by the rental I had in Iceland that I took on various F-roads and forded rivers in, the low first gear wasn't as low as a low-range crawler gear.

Landcruiser or HiLux. Could get a SWB LC but the HiLux could be really useful for carrying stuff, collecting firewood etc. The last thing you want is unreliability. Oh, and the strongest tyres you can fit, along with a couple of spare wheels / tyres and trolley jack at the house ready to go.

One of these would probably do the job. You can put all your stuff in the front too! You’ll get wet if it rains though.

It was never on Rightmove. I've bought it in a way that benefits buyer and seller due to complex Scottish property rules.

A panda 4x4 of any age will hop over all that like a mountain goat. The car of choice in mountainous regions of France and Italy. Go for a cross if you want extra protection and off road ability.

My sister and family rented a villa in the Sierra Nevada in Spain. Their Ibiza rental car died on the track up to it and needed retrieving by a big truck. They rented a Jimny to replace it.

Serious question OP - has the house previously been let as a holiday let?

My wife and I were looking at accommodation in Skye a couple of years ago and came across a cottage described as the perfect getaway - no mobile phone signal, no wifi, no power - you drove and met someone in your car, who then took you to the house in their 4x4. They provided a CB radio and it stated you'd have to check in daily to let them know all was ok.

Same place I wonder?

We've got the chance of a wee cottage on the isle of Skye for silly cheap money BUT the 2 mile access road has rocks and stones 1 inch to 2 feet across and 1 in 2.5 gradients. Land Rover short wheelbase seems the logical choice maybe about 10 years old but can anyone suggest anything else which may be ok? It's narrow too.
Thanks.
You’ve got to share the link now.

What’s the possible budget to fix up an access road?
