Looking to add an EV to the fleet - ideally looking at £4xx monthly with 3 months down. I seem to be to be leaning towards the Renault Megane E-Tech - the best deal I've found here: https://www.leaseloco.com/car-leasing/renault/mega...

3 x 48 £424.17 for 10k/year. Has anyone seen / considering something better for an EV?

Not too fussed on the car, although I am quite fond of the Megane's looks. I do like the Kia Niro, but that seems to be a far bit more expensive.

Is a personal lease (no company scheme yet / ltd co to put it through). The more I can save on the EV, the more I'll have to spend on the weekend toy (so my wife has promised!).
If it’s a personal lease do you have access to NHS Fleet deals? They tend to be excellent value for EV even once you offset the pension drop.

In pursuit of a lease deal for a Tiguan, I ventured to the local VW garage. No deals on a Tiguan but very surprised to learn that with a similar £2K deposit, the Black Edition Touareg is *just* £100pm more than the Black Edition Tiguan. We are looking at £671 vs £570, so nothing to get excited over!

Can't get the Touareg out of my head now...
I was talking to a guy once with a leased Porsche. He said he paid close to £700 a month. With insurance, servicing, tyres - remember they can and do puncture he was struggling to survive.

Why would anyone pay £400 and upwards unless your company car allowance paid for it is beyond me. Paying getting on 10k a year to rent a car? Madness.

The peugeot e-2008 and MG ZS are both cheaper. The peugeot has a slightly smaller range but is handsomely trimmed, the MG is not particularly nice but has a great range and a low price

Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a strong competitor to the Megane
Thanks - it seems I've had my wings clipped, so I'm taking a closer look at the MG4 (not sure I can stomach the bland looks of the ZS, or the fact it shares it's name with what was once an interesting car!).

No access to NHS schemes/otherwise - I suspect my company will introduce an EV scheme at some point over the next 2 years, so thinking about a cheap and cheerful lease in the interim. Living rurally, having solar panels and having regular daily journeys of 40 miles, an EV seems obvious choice.

Currently weighing up MG4 vs an equivalent petrol. My workings in case anyone is interested, showing average monthly cost based on 2 years/10k miles..!

Kia Proceed (Petrol) £322.18
Nissan Leaf (EV) £392.15
MG ZS (EV) £382.18
Citroen E-C4 £445.99
MG4 £407.21

I’ve leased 2 bmw 3 series, an Audi S5, a Touareg and an XC90. The Touareg was by far the best in terms of drive and driver convenience. I would be interested to know which dealership the offer was from? Mind you it is expensive, in 2019 I paid £525pm with a 3 month deposit for 24 months (10k) - long gone are those days

I think there are two reasons:

1 - Poor financial planning and/or understanding.

2 - For some people that’s simply not a significant amount of money.

Exactly.

And one could argue buying/leasing a new car always falls into category 1.

Don’t think you can claim it’s poor financial planning. In the past I have leased cars where the total amount would have been less than the depreciation over the 2 years I had it. In that situation buying it new for cash would have been the poorer decision.

My current XC40 lease with Santander is coming to an end and car is due to be returned in September. I've been keeping an eye on here and have been checking sites like leaseloco and leasing.com etc daily for deals for last couple of months. There hasn't been very much that has caught my eye that I've liked or has seemed like good vfm but I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to order something soon to avoid going without a car come September. I'm seriously thinking bout placing an order for one of the above For mentors. Anyone any opinions on these deals? Do they seem reasonable in the current climate or can anyone recommend anywhere that would be able to beat these? Ideally I'm looking for a 3 year lease with preferably 1 month upfront. Any input is welcomed. 👍😃

I bought one in 2018 and sold it in 2020 BEFORE the covid price rises for 80 quid less than I paid. Leasing the Golf R in 2016 on the 300 quid a month cheap deal was the most I've ever lost on any car in 25 years!
As with all things you just need to weigh them up properly and decide what's economically right and also right for you

It's not a leasing versus purchasing point mate. And I buy/lease new cars myself, so fully appreciate life isn't always about a clinical financial calculation.

V4B have some good deals on the Formentor, from speaking to them they may change June 1st. Boot is less practical than XC40 but interior calls out to your inner boy/girl racer:

Thanks for the reply. Had a look at their offers on the Formentor but they weren't quite as good as quotes I've got from G2L. The boot size is actually one of the only things that's putting me off going for it. My last two cars have been a Tucson and XC40 and I quite liked their heights. Only other thing I'm unsure bout with the Formentor is it's height. I like everything I've seen of the Formentor in pictures but I haven't actually physically seen one yet so kind of hoping it's not too low down. Anyone on here got one or driven one?

It's from Johnsons in Liverpool and you're right - it's very expensive.

The point still stands that buying a Golf R for cash in 2014 and keeping it for a couple of years and selling it cost way more than leasing the same car over the period thanks to the cracking deals around unbeknown to me at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The whole point of this thread is there have been and hopefully will be good deals to be had which make good financial sense.

I'm leasing a 1.5 manual V2 and had it for 2 years. Feel free to PM with any questions you have. I'd have another and have found it big enough for my family of 4.
