For my parents, getting on in years now, current Audi A6 avant is getting leggy & too big for them, don’t need the boot for dogs as they’re gone, they’d like something smaller, easier to park etc.

21-23 plate - budget £20k

They seem keen on a 1.5 hybrid Yaris but after watching a few reviews i think they look quite flimsy.

Usual contenders fiesta, polo etc

Anything else worth looking at ?

Following on from the VW group I like the A1 and Q2.

Peugeot 208 is brilliant inside but might appeal to younger market more.

They'll be sitting on the inside. There's a reason these are popular.

It isn't your car.................

What do your parents think of it? In my experience, let them buy what they want. If not you will just get grief.

I wouldn't say a Yaris is flimsy. In 30 years the Yaris is likely still to be driving around delivering pizzas long after the likes of a Fiesta has been recycled into baked bean cans.

Anyway, here are some other ideas

Suzuki Vitara if they would prefer a higher up seating position.

I’d echo the above about the Yaris, like many a Japanese small car the interior plastics etc. don’t feel plush but they are actually robust. I wouldn’t rule the Yaris out.

Just got myself a brand new 23 plate Mazda 2 for £15K.

Very impressed with the level of kit and quality for the money compared to anything else I looked at at a similar price point.

I know it's slightly bigger
But they're based off a polo platform and they might appreciate the raised height.
The VW T-cross or Skoda Kamiq
Both great little cars

Yaris or Jazz is the right answer.

Where was that from ?

That’s a great price, same car as the Yaris, built on the same production line, pretty much identical except the badge.

These are rrp c.£21k where did you get that sort of discount ?

I know I just think they’ll think the same. It’s got a weird look, Yaris on the other hand is a good looking supermini.

My wife has a 2020 Seat Arona FR DSG.

We bought it new for about £17.5k via CarWow....probably more now.

Easy to get into, goes very well, 45 MPG, very refined. I love it!

I would agree that a raised height makes a lot of sense…..often easier to get in and out, better visibility….
