They had a whole lane of classics, I think it was a dustbin for every turd that a bombsite dealer has picked up over the last year to try and give his forecourt some exoticism. Lots of stuff bid to silly values by pillocks, including an MG Midget that got £2,400 at a classic auction six months ago going for £3.4k.

Used to see that being built at Fibreglass Repairs in Shortlands, while I picked up resin and mat to repair my Bond Bug, which I used to crash on a regular basis.

Tumbleweed in the BMW forum on this (should I have said I was going to add stripes to the grille?) anyway, other than "it's probably tedious but where's the ginsters?" What say thee?

2004 318i SE touring, manual, plain Jane silver with blackish cloth, claims 52k, MOT history supports.

And that history suggests skimped maintenance, with an oil leak for some time, this was on the last fail

Nearside Front Outer Brake pad(s) incorrectly mounted BROKEN OFF (1.1.13 (c))

Well done whichever friend did that, and it has previously had this:

Nearside Rear Corrosion to wheel arch not creating a jagged edge.
Offside Rear Corrosion to wheel arch not creating a jagged edge.
Nearside Rear Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Offside Rear Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.3.6 (a) (i))

No sign of the arch rot, so something has been done.

I could do with a station car that is capable of reasonable miles in modest comfort from time.to.time.

I can have it for a grand, and cars at a grand are rare these days, should I pursue it, or is it as exciting as Tesco's own porridge oats, but for this much cash I should stfu and just get it?
It's £1k. It's a 4 pot old 3 series. It's not going to be especially exciting, but it's £1k. Either buy it and don't moan (because it's £1k) or if you feel that it's not your sorta thing (for me, a BMW needs 6+ cylinders) then don't buy it because you'll still be disappointed.
I've been running a sub £1k 318Ci as a daily for the past 4 years. It was supposed to be a temporary stop gap car but I've kept it on because it keeps passing MOTs, so I'm loath to change it. True, the engine's gruff and no ball of fire, wheel arches are a bit bubbly but I like having a shed I can leave anywhere without worrying. It does my bi-monthly 200 mile round trip in reasonable comfort and has cost me very little in maintenance. It's not bad on fuel too.

Very cheap for what it is, no? A very clean 50 year old car that would be (lightly) useable every day?

I had a 460, not sure if anyone here has had the hybrid. Which, despite more power, is slower due to the extra mass.
I had a UK 600HL. It was bloody lovely to drive on motorways/dual carriageways but a bit big and ponderous on B roads. Very well equipped and 28mpg on a steady run. Surprising turn of speed in SPORT mode as well.

I like the colour combination on this E-class coupe, don't see many of them anymore. Has some paint issues unfortunately and suspect more things hiding so the price seems high https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226989912791

That is lovely, a dark green really suits a lot of Mercs, just like that W220 posted the other day.

Getting hard to find a good one of those, have a nagging thought that this shape might've been the only gen sold in the UK.

Having just sold a 47 year old Toyota, I will say that finding parts could be an absolute bh. Engine, fine, but try finding a light switch, or indicator stalk, or piece of internal trim...

I think yes, if that is solid it is not an expensive car, and one that could be used every day with little worry once thoroughly rustproofed.

Nice. The wheel caps are wrong and look out of place though, being picky. I wonder if it would look better on steels 'n' hub caps?

SV8 within budget, but there's a catch (or two)...

No MOT for more than 24 months, electronic parking brake U/S, but low owners and nice colours PLUS radar cruise.

Brave pill, perhaps?

Top thread for it when you could probably buy a straight one for that. The dealer has to put bread on the table as us all, I suppose.

Edit: I didn't clock the mileage. It does look fairly tidy though.

They're £4k trade for an 80k XF-R now. Absolutely outrageous value.
