Lovely, did these have the fragile autos that a lot of VAG vehicles had of this era?biggbn said:

People often joke about the sales disaster that was the Avantime, but don't spend enough time talking about how the world is a better place for it existing.
Would love one of these and a C6 on my drive.
Sadly in my dreams only !
I briefly looked at Avemtimes and C6s when buying my new car. Decided against it as I don't think my wife would have been too impressed with a notoriously flakey 20 year old french car as our family transport

I'm half way to living the dream with a C6 on the drive.

I can't argue with that. It's quite interesting to me as that generation of Passat has pretty much vanished from the roads, but a smoker barge it certainly is not.
The generation after are very nearly extinct too, the fate of both of them is interesting to contrast with the contemporary Volvo V70 which sold in certainly no greater numbers and yet are still everywhere (and in the case of the P3 post '07 models still remarkably expensive).W00DY said:
I very nearly bought one of these last year, they look like great value.W00DY said:
What a lovely car. My mate had one the same colour but the diesel turbo version. W00DY said:
I think if it were a similarly specced C5 A6 people would call it a barge. And there's really not much between them as cars once you get past design.
I think the A6 is a nicer place to sit (seats, interior quality and design), the A6 also uses more sound deadening so it's a quieter drive, and the suspension is tuned a little differently. CMTMB said:

Another great find Woody. That one looks like a great find. Colours are nice. The story at least seems to ring true as there’s a pic of a Z4 on the drive recently.
If I needed one I’d definitely be bidding on that. There’s 5 of the same gen on AT currently at the same or below mileage, all more exp, 3 in resale silver, 1 hard to keep clean black one in dark blue (w doom black interior).
