That Cayenne has a fair few red flags. It looks to have had a hard 31k miles, mismatched rear budget tyres and body damage listed in an MOT that was polished out, low oil mentioned on a previous MOT. Lovely spec, but I'd prefer a much higher mile car that's been loved personally.

Posted this on the classic/retro thread but it probably belongs here as well. Looking at the driveway it's in good company

AC "needs a regas", apparently.

I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole. It will cost thousands to keep running properly. And 20 year old tech too. All that beef and the 0-60 is still over 5 seconds.

Lovely colours though.

And for some reason I have an irrational desire for a car phone.

That came up with two cars I bought in the last 15 years. The first was an Audi A8, and I never managed to get it fixed.
The second was on a Saab, where the need for a regas was actually a need for the Yorkshire tightwad selling it to have changed the compressor instead of bypassing it with a shorter auxiliary belt. Well spotted by the Kwik Fit fitter charged with sorting it out.

There's a gen1 Cayenne turbo S in those exact colours that lives on the street in Wimbledon; I 'ooof' whenever I see it and now even more so that I realise fewer than three hundred were sent to the UK.

Certainly looks like a nice interior! Think there's always a chance of some 20 year old rubber bits failing in a hard to reach location (of which this engine has a few I believe) but if you can get it cheap and you go in with your eyes open... https://shootingbrake.com/listing/33b92eb1-163c-45...

ETA: The current seller put it up for sale in 2024 at 25k so the reserve on this one might be on the high side! Also for some reason a new V5c issued a few days ago?

It's also on eBay at the moment for £12k I think.

I think at £7k-8k it would be extremely tempting.

Watched Doug's review of it from 2 years ago and he quoted mid 4's, which seems a bit more likely given the power and weight.

What I really need is someone to bid it up to around £10k for me so I can forget about it.

What about a bit of fast Jaguar instead?

XFR

Less jeopardy but certainly as much drama.

This SEC looks like it's in top shape, delicious. https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C2025949

I went seriously shopping for a nice SEC years ago but had to give in as everyone I viewed was just a mess of rust. Usually the bottom of the rear screen which is a well known rust prone area but also under the doors. I remember viewing one which looked great, until I felt under the door and my fingers found no metal at all! I never got as far as checking underneath for structural issues! I think a rust free one would be lovely but it would be a rare thing these days unfortunately.
ETA This one does appear nice but maybe as it’s a 560 has had a more garaged and pampered life. The price is suggesting such.

I may be wrong but I think that's punchy in terms of price. I've certainly seen some cheaper with similar miles.

I've done Jag XJ. I'd consider an XFR-S Sport brake but they're still a punchy even for a Friday.

Needs to be kids and dog roadtrip friendly.

That was a rather disappointing Friday, other than the SEC 560.

That interior shot of the C216 makes me think of a late LJKS cross country drive review in CAR Magazine in which I think he mentioned a Porsche 928 bursting his bubble and 'inhibitors of private zeal' impeding his progress.

In the true spirit of barging, the XKR is away to bum me with a circa 3k wallet destroyer.

I shouldn't complain too much given it's been more or less routine maintenance and the odd small niggle in 35k miles BUT why oh why does a supercharger have to be such a labour intensive ballache to remove. frown

Thank you. I knew it too, but forgot to edit it. Procrastinating and multitasking aren't a good mix. I hope the V12 continent crusher is well and the VFR1200 is doing alright aswell. biggrin

I'm sure LJKS would've approved of the VFR1200. He wouldn't have nitpicked on spec. comparisons?
