Really interesting.

My grandson is 17 and 7/12ths and will be taking his test soon.
He is working full time as an apprectice commercial plumber/welder and once he has passed his test he will need a car to get to site and lug stuff around.
We had been thinking as small and cheap as possible, but it would seem we could do a lot better for less.

Is it just a case of endless quotes online, or would you feel this is the right time to use a broker?
Run a few quotes through comparison sites on various models of interest, put in a fake DOB or whatever you need to do to show as a new driver (not provisional) go left field and you might be surprised.
All depends of course on what said young person wants to be seen in.
I do feel I've possibly de-railed this thread slightly, but happy to share the info if it's of benefit to some!
I played the system somewhat successfully when I passed my test and bought the first of 3 Volvo 440 Turbo’s I had in my early driving career. Not ‘sexy’ but usefully quick and actually a really decent car with the Renault lump.

Insurance group 10 as I recall and insurance about half what my friends were paying for 1.2 Nova SR’s etc.

I like that but WFT with the big dash ipad? Where are the heating controls? It should look like this, no?

I did wonder about that. Hopefully he's kept the original.

I imagine there's better OEM looking ways of integrating CarPlay/AA.

They sell these "tesla style" things on Aliexpress for all sorts of cars, I've seen them on Jaguar X150 XKs and they look laugh out loud bad.

Not answering your question, but observing that on my V8 TVR the disks were 260 front and 273 rear from the factory
Thanks Cubey, so maybe that is the case after all and it's not just the database that I assume all these places share is wrong

Rear arches are very much a passage of rites with E46s! Mine had had one repaired and another is being done.
That’s a reflection of the road he’s pointed out. There was slight bubbling on all 4 arches which has been painted pre sale, I saw the before pics. It really is a very tidy thing.

Golly, that's a lot of money for an Alfa Romazdesla Xedos 169 Panamera Model 3

My thoughts too. Precisely the car that no-one would want. You would win Top Trumps rarity category tho - unless you happened to be playing against the Lamborghini LM002 card !

I think being black does it no favours but the red one looks pretty good to me. Shall have to wait until that comes to market! Not sure the chauffeur is going to be amused at it being manual alas. hehe

I love it. It's definitely a bit mental and that interior looks pretty crummy, but that's surely much more charming than a posh-VW.

The maroon CLS reminds me of Alex_225's silver 55 Kompressor.

Thanks for the 'heavily undersealed' X300 comment, saved me considering looking.

Thud.

How ruinous are these really?
ABC, megatax, headbolts, empeegees. Can imagine parts might be difficult to get hold of? Still tempting in that hue, nevertheless.
Oof!

Winter early morning start ups must sound brilliant!

A nice car but why does the grill look odd? Or am I imagining it.
