What is 'spite bidding'?
When the bidding is really low and you put a bid in just to put it higher expecting someone else to top it...

and they don't
I find it endlessly annoying that I can never buy a car for as cheap as the person I'm bidding against.

I might have to get into the spite bidding game hehe

I've ended up with a good few cars from that game, I think "ha ha that's way too cheap, no way it goes for that, might as well have a bid!"

I've never been really badly burned, and a few times I've scored a notable bargain, but I think this is (against some pretty good competition) the riskiest so far.

It's ultimately just a tarted up XJS though, how ruinous can it possibly be? I'm definitely not bricking it, no way, absolutely not. It's cost me £66 to insure for the next 200 odd days left on my multicar policy though, which seems reasonable. I should probably move my XKR on now.

I hope it's not too good, I'm looking forward to joining the AMOC and turning up in a model they all sneer at with the ashtray overflowing and the footwell full of McDonalds wrappers so I need it to look like a bit of a shed.

May have composite wings and bonnet being that early.
The ones they replaced because they go out of shape from the engine heat and the fit and finish looks terrible?

I'm going to say "yes, it does have those composite panels, indeed it does" hehe

Also you should have PM

Hammer price was £9,550

It's a very early one, pre airbag car build number 240.

I'm going to get it delivered straight to Ryzard at Aston Keeper who can tell me how huge a mistake I've made. The MOT history is less than illustrious.

I've been looking at DB9s and V8Vs for ages, as well as Rapides as the family bus, but this should be a bit of (relatively) cheap and low risk fun.
Congratulations. thumbup

At least you have a good Indy to look after it.

Jeeeeesus, that makes the panel fit on an early tesla look like a handcrafted Bentley!

Even still, massive brass ones to punt £10k out of spite, so I hope it ends well and looking forward to the thread on it fella!

I think it might be that the bonnet isn't properly closed there, it doesn't look that bad in any other photos. We shall see...

I would be checking those carbon ceramic brake discs VERY carefully. I wouldn't even like to imagine the cost of specific Brembo carbon ceramics for such a low volume car. While they might use them in other applications, the price will be eye watering.

Some cars coming up at SWVA auction with estimates well within thread budget.

There's a number of V6 R129 at mid thread estimates, I'd have thought they'd be more expensive. To me they just seem to have some minor scuffs etc but who knows what horrors lurk?
I like the full red interior in this one: https://www.swva.co.uk/vehicle/nnbeshbsn0qfojkgphi...
£1k deposit to bid at SWVA has been paid cool
Yes, do that, it looks great!

Can anyone see what this sold for in the end?
