So the almandine R129 became a green DB7. Excellent!
I thought that he had bought both
No no, I backed out of the R129 at 3500 and I think it did indeed do 3800.

Then I got carried away with the DB7, which it turns out they put on their Instagram page.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DXbaf4OkfYd/

My concern with the DB7 aren't so much that it's shagged out but that it's just... well.. TOO crap hehe

I'm having a bit more a busy time on the car/shed front at the moment, and my one "reliable" and "sensible" car has started moaning about the EGR valve, so buying a 30 year old shonky classic was just what I needed to make life easier.

I would be checking those carbon ceramic brake discs VERY carefully. I wouldn't even like to imagine the cost of specific Brembo carbon ceramics for such a low volume car. While they might use them in other applications, the price will be eye watering.
I close the window on any car I look at with carbon ceramics, total deal breaker on anything where I can just buy one without the risk of a £15k brake job.

For road use, even fast road use, they were nothing but a vanity option for the original purchaser. WokeBlob has told me of old gits in their nice new Bentley coming in and complaining that the brakes whine around town and feel horrible after paying for the option on the car they drive from Chelsea to the golf club three times a week and that will never exceed 50MPH.

My Friday offering, for a shade under £13.5k this 13th Gen Crown Majesta last of the Crown's with the V8 with only a mild bit of "VIP", on the plus side at least those wheels look to be genuine (expensive) ones so could get some money back if you go for something with more sidewall.

This is the top of the top of the range as it's the "G Type F Package", the G-Type's were strictly 4 seaters with a fixed centre console in the rear, the seats are heated/cooled and have recline features along with various other perks. The F-Package was more to do with the styling around the bumpers & skirts according to the (fake leatherbound) Japanese brochure I have.

The rear occupants have full control over their space including the button marked "shade" to raise/lower the rear window shade. A note to any bargista's with children under 6 - they might take enjoyment in messing with the buttons whilst you are driving... until you hear the giggle you might think your radio is broken laugh

Imo the 13th gen were really the peak of the Crown's with more understated styling, the last of the V8's before the switch to hybrid and had the few 12th gen problems ironed out. Problems for this one, the ad mentions interior issues but I've not heard of this much before and the factory stereo is expensive to be made more modern however the 13th gen's were the first that you could bluetooth music to so there's that.

Don't these get about £3k hammer in Japan?

Even after all the dicking about getting it here and on the road there is plenty of profit in doing it if you can sell them for £13k+ when they're not even perfect.

Really appealing car though, a big and comfortable saloon without all the faux sporty stuff.

Friday. CL 55 AMG F1. Rare if nothing else.

Switch to steels? Even an option??
Then it loses its F1 specialness
Pretty much.

I have tried to find out what the price of replacements would be, but there is literally nowhere online that gives a part number or price, I'd assume you'd have to go to Brembo and pray they have a couple on a shelf. Failing that I can imagine they might be able to "make a set" for you and charge you for their time and effort.

Anyway, fact of the day is that it was the first production car to come with carbon ceramic brakes.

Am I really out of touch (and I am quite open to the possibility that I may well be!), that £11k for a 20 year old barge seems crazy? My experience of 20 year old stuff, especially big, heavy German stuff, is that they are one bill after another. Even more so with the luxury accoutrements - soft close failings etc.

It's an uncommon combination of nice colours + high spec + V8 + touring and the price is targeted at that one buyer that has decided he wants an E61 touring and is going to buy the nicest one there is, no matter if it costs 5k or 15k.

12th gen Athlete's and Royal's are going to be £3k in Japan there's millions of them and they last forever, not sure on Majesta's as never looked.

13th gen Athlete's are roughly £3-6k iirc and Royals £3-4, Majesta's start at £6k for a Type A or C but Type G's start at £8k. When I looked at shipping one in Jan/Feb before the rates went crazy landed it was £11k for a Type G F Package in Navy. If this one came in through an importer or this owners done some work on it to make it legal himself then £13k is about right.

Bit of both, this is toppy because as KadettE says it's rare and you just need to find the one very partiuclar buyer, but the days of £2k barges are over particularly the interesting petrol ones as they sold in such tiny numbers during the dark days of diesel.

They also seem to stop depreciating. 3 years ago my 47k mile XJ Supersport was 11k at BCA a 57k mile one has just been listed and has a CAP clean of 10.5k. For a 16 year old Jaguar, my instinct is that such a car should be close to worthless.

I think there is also an element of used buyers and the market at large catching up to the fact that cars do or can last a long time now. Late 90s barges were built well enough to give 20+ years of service but everyone was used to a decade old car being absolutely shagged out so in the mid and late 00s they were worthless despite having loads of life left in them.

Also factor in massive currency depreciation, £6k in 2007 is £10k now.

E61 550i have always hovered around this price, which makes this one a good example for the money, in my book.

Really lovely and sensibly priced. MOT carried out today suggests it’s leaking coolant.

Yeah I spotted that, any e39 gurus know what the leak is likely to be?

Any of the coolant system components unfortunately. They’re made of chocolate.
