Was there something wrong with this one? Seems like little more than scrap value.

It basically was scrap IIRC, had a lot of issues. No MoT since Jan ‘24.

L405 is peak Range Rover for me. Its all gone wrong since... what a lovely car, well bought. I'd really like a supercharged model but suspect I'll never have a big enough wallet to justify such a purchase even though my optimism is boundless...
I do love the L322 and I loved mine when I had it, but they like to rust and issues with the turbos on my 3.6 TDV8, but when working it was fabulous. The L405 in my opinion is a much better car and I do prefer the looks out of all the different models over the years personally. Very much peak Range Rover.

I don't do a great deal of mileage and I have an XC70 for daily duties and an MX-5 ND so this will be tinkered and pampered. Now picking up Saturday morning. Be a great drive home from Essex to the Angus hills.
Will keep my eyes open for you. I'm also in Angus...
How is the new purchase going?

Not exactly a barge, but a comfy convertible for summer, nice leather colour too. Seems good value at £2k.

Wow - worth a punt at that price, but does this have the problematic valve guide thingy?

I was idly thinking I'd like another open top...but nothing too low (aged back issues).

It does, but at least it has electric windows although a manual 200e must be quite a rarity!

I really liked my 2 litre manual 190e.

£5,995 on Facebook.

Long wheelbase X308 in Seafrost Green Metallic with Catkin over Pine interior package.

Catkin on the upper section to the dash, steering wheel, gear knob and carpets looks great to my eyes.

Interior looks fantastic in that colour. What's the thing stuck onto the left corner of the dash, is it just to hold it down? On mine the glue had perished and it started lifting on that side and made buzzing sounds at speed - my solution of wedging some tissues in there looked less smart. hehe

That's great. A chap in my vicinity owns both an XJ and an XJ convertible in Seafrost, often parking them together which I find rather pleasing.

How is the new purchase going?
I know, I know an update is very late here, apologies! So, travelled down on the Friday and collected from Braintree the Saturday morning. Without boring everyone here - the car presents extremely well. Paint is great, refurbed wheel and new tyes in January, interior very very good. Had been in storage since it was serviced in January at his parents house so the battery was causing a few issues.

Lower tailgate would not budge at all, airbag light on. We negotiated and I got some money off as full hisotry and to be fair a lovely example for the money. So then drove back the 8-9 hours to Angus...

The good - it drove amazingly, that engine is a real peach, so smooth but so much power. Fairly economical on a long run as well around 28mpg.

The bad, the air con was very weak, EML came on. No loss of pwer though or anything. So booked into my specialist up here to look at that and the tailgate. Tailgate required a new loom and now works perfect. He thought that the EML could be the cats as is a common problem on these, but..it appears it was a vacuum leak. (For now) will keep an eye out on that.

Booked in next week for an air con recharge and go from there. This one hasn't had the chains done, no ticking though and engine sounds good, but I know what I'm like with cars and this is certainly a keeper so will get them done by my specialist who is pretty reasonable and service the supercharger while in there.

I have never known such opulence in a car though. Had all the paperwork with it and it cost around £121k new in late 2013, an amazing car

Lovely to see one like this where someone hasn't stuck an emblem on the bonnet.
