Probably absurdly expensive with low mileage and automatic, however i’d still like to have one.

Another Quattroporte, this time one with the ZF. How cheap do you reckon it would have to be to be worth a punt? Off the road since atleast 2019 by the looks of it.

Depends if you're prepared to tinker with it yourself, I wouldn't want to throw it at a specialist to get them to sort it out. I'd say that's cheap enough as it is if the condition is good in person.
First photo on the advert looks more like an XK8 to me. Time for a weekend I think.

It has rarity value; a Bristol that doesn't make you want to claw your own eyes out.

I'd be interested to know what it sells for; it will either seem absurdly cheap or as you say, absurdly expensive.

He's selling it because he can't afford to keep it, suspect he couldn't self fund. Not sure I'd want to own a car after someone who was skint but that's perhaps a bit unkind.
Ad does say not had it long and job loss. Whether that s true or not, who knows.
He's done a DIY gearbox service...

In my experience, people service a gearbox for one of two reasons:
1) they're meticulous owners who want to ensure a long and reliable service life
2) the gearbox is fked and someone said "can't hurt to try changing the fluid".

I'll bother most things with my spanners, but a gearbox service on a modern automatic is not one of them. If the gearbox doesn't have a dipstick, I'm taking it to a specialist. You really can't do it on the drive, it's got to be on the ramp and you need to get it into the correct temperature range, and work meticulously cleanly when you have the pan off to change the filter.

Now, if the ad pictures showed it up on his private two poster with the pan off, I might forgive this but I suspect he's had a clunk, emptied what he can and pumped ATF into the fill hole.

Totally 100% this. I have done a DIY ATF change and I'll never do it again, just getting the car in the air but level was a bd and that's before you start lying on the floor under a running car with 60C ATF dripping all over you as you try to get the level right before the fluid is too hot. Absolutely not a job to do without a ramp, but an easy enough job if you do have one.

Well I say I did it, I mostly passed stuff to TheWokeBlob who was under my car getting covered in burning hot ATF hehe

Ah, no chance. I was thinking £4-5k and that's being hopelessly optimistic that there wasn't a terminal reason that it was laid up in the first place.

This is my Friday offering and in my favoured colour combo of Indianapolis Red over Sepang Bronze Merino Leather. Chris Harris butchered the one I lusted after and it's great to know that another exists. It won't be mine on this occassion, but one day it will be smile

I have been coming back to this all week. I am genuinely tempted although it would mean using a 25 year old car for daily duties of 30 miles a day, although very little town work. It would seem almost a shame to do that to it though!

Otherwise the Japanese E60 is playing on my mind but it isn t half as pretty as an E39.

I thought the mileage and price seemed a bit too good.

First photo, seems ok. Second photo, oh I get it.

You certainly wouldn't lose that in the supermarket car park... And a very tall garage would be required...

Take all that crap off it and voila, you'd have a v12 crown ute!

Rather good looking, and with an engine to help it along - Friday winner, in my book.

I’ve wanted one for a long time.

That car is the only automatic they made at the factory apparently, no idea how it affects performance and fuel economy though.

Beautiful. I’d wholeheartedly agree.

I was searching to buy one a few years ago and having failed to find one under £35k ended up with the E63 AMG, but not an estate.

Still rank it as the most complete car I’ve owned with a spectacular engine. I’d therefore posit this alternative Friday offering:
