That it's an R230? You can find a facebook discussion where the seller goes into more details and anecdotes for fixing similar issues go from checking the brake pipes aren't cracked to replace engine...

That is an ugly boat.
Yep. Just like the SC, lovely on the inside, challenging on the outside.
I thought we were still talking about the SC at first.
I like the SC.
I looked at getting one and still may.
Also, I prefer the first gen wheels too.

This is as an owner of an R129 500SL which is (IMO) a very elegant looking car.

ETA. But does this not look elegant too?
Different, absolutely, and not perfect but I think it works as a piece of design.

It looks like a Micra CC when the picture is reduced to a thumbnail.

When you get to that stage, you have three choices:
1 - Embrace the aging process.
2 - Seek psychiatric help
3 - Visit Dignitas
The first option is taken by all sane people.

I might have a go at all three, just in case.

That looks a much better buy than the 300E with twice the mileage at twice the price (and won't have a V6)!

My MG4 lease ends next month and I had every intention of replacing it with a second-hand Honda E.

That said, there's a part of me that says "you only live once" and that I should buy this instead... Jaguar XJ Supersport

What a gorgeous colour scheme!

That is pretty much what I did; electric Citroen went back and I bought the stupidest sensible car I could and I haven’t regretted it once.

So yes, do that and enjoy yourself.

You should always listen to those thoughts, always act impulsively and purchase like this should always be emotional. It ALWAYS works out.... smile

On an early morning run in the sun on Friday I was reminded that there really isn't any replacement for displacement.

That just needs some Amirante wheels.

Get it bought.

In all honesty the Honda E will have lower running costs regardless of the man maths applied, but it will feel like an appliance. This will feel epic.

Yeah with the fact I'll do a couple of thousand miles a year as the "sensible daily" in it the only question is will depreciation or lack thereof offset all the other costs - 790 tax, 1500 insurance (yikes), fuel, maintenance...also, how much of a nuisance will it be to park a LWB XJ when running round the corner for the dry cleaning...

Funny, that's a strong option to replace our MG4 too.

Certainly not an appliance as mentioned. When Honda do something right and then lose money doing it they usually produce a good car.

I wanted one on lease new when I took the MG4. I decided against it at is it was expensive relative to the MG4, and the range sucked. But in three years I've basically never taken the MG4 on a long journey and the Honda has depreciated to a point it looks quite a good deal.

This was my conclusion and make of it what you will…
Cars are never, NEVER going to be as amazing as that ever again.
There will never be a better time than now to buy something like that, large capacity multi-cylinder forced induction 500bhp whatever cars without all the bings and bongs and nannying rubbish.
And, they’re getting older and running costs are not going to come down and etc. so, I accept that some political unmentionable is charging me an offensive amount to drive it and I accept 22 average because that’s a fair exchange but without a shadow of a doubt it’s absolutely, in my opinion, 100% worth it.
