The sound advice here about checking dimensions, not just assuming, is good.
Many a pickup truck driver has found to his angst that his new Ford Ranger may be on trend, but it is also 2 feet or so longer than your average XF.
I have bored the thread with my recent Range Rover L322 purchase, but it suits me.
My wife won't drive it because it is "far too large to park".
She drives a Saab 9-5 estate
Which do you think is longer?

But, there are more 5+ metre cars on the road these days and our spaces are still generally 4.5 or 4.8m. I could Google it but I'm sure the current gen 7er isn't even available as a standard WB, they start at 5.4m. Really, a 3er/C-class sized car is the largest thing you can drive and almost guarantee fitting into the length of a bay. 5er/E will often be a smidge too long.
Width is another matter altogether!

It looked superb, I absolutely would have bought it.
Doubtless it needed some stuff done, of what must be thirty auction cars I have bought all bar maybe 2 have, but it looked a good one.
I also echo the post about enjoying these cars now, I think we re in a last golden age of affordable great cars.
For balance, my Supersport is f
ked at the moment

By a mere 3 cm. Just over an inch in old money.
The Saab is 4.808 metres long.
Both are well under 5 metres so fit in supermarket spaces.
The Ford Ranger dual cab puckerup is 5.370 metres long, over half a metre longer than either of the above.
The Range Rover is 4 inches wider than the Saab, but it has a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors and a radar system, and a great view from the driving seat. The Saab that my wife drives has none of these things.
So when buying a larger daily it pays to check the dimensions before buying.
I would have thought both cars were over 5 metres long

Does that include the towbar length on the range?
Fair comment - no, but that is an optional extra that I wanted. I use the RR for towing my caravan, horse trailer and track day car trailer (not all at the same time)

It would stick out just as far on any car, as it did on our other Saab estate

.230E manual with no MOT record, costs 2800. Claimed to be running but needs some recommissioning. Previously owned by a rattle can connoisseur. Wonder if this is going to fall apart if you start poking or could be used as is for a bit. https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C2075029

I just can’t get past that they used to be £700 to see you through some winter driving and sell in for £700 6 months later. Wonderful things though.
I would love, really love, a 190e again. Just a cooking model 2.0 auto. Can’t bring myself to pay £5k though.

I’m finding myself having to recalibrate on values of many ‘normal’ cars. It seems the £5k is the new £2.5k in terms of what you can actually buy. Certainly seems a half decent 190E will cost that, ditto most W124s.I would love, really love, a 190e again. Just a cooking model 2.0 auto. Can t bring myself to pay £5k though.

It looks pretty clean, but it's a poverty spec with windy windows and what look like Ambla seats.

.
Crown Royal with short MOT and some (minor?) gearbox issue mentioned in the ad. Seems to be the 3-speed auto? https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C2074714

Please could anyone let me know what's going on here? MOT history states it is an IS300 and not a RX350.

The page gives it £760 tax too even though as a hybrid its usually more like £410.
Seems it’s liked rusting in recent years.
