Had a manual V6 X type some 10 years ago. Try the seats out on a long long trial. Ours looked really comfortable, sporty, leather etc. Half an hour into a journey was enough, absolutely crippling.

I too found X Type seats absolutely appalling despite them looking nice. Mine was a 2.5 auto and ranks as one of the worst cars I've ever had, I hated almost everything about it from it's comedically gutless performance, it's dim witted auto, it's awful seats to it's V8 fuel consumption. A manual and 3 litre would improve it but you'd still be left with an uncomfortable cramped car with refinement that makes it feel like you're sitting outside, and an AWD system that it doesn't need in this country and that doesn't work.

Conversely the seats in this S Type are fabulously comfortable. They are very rare as manuals, I've been on the lookout for literally years and my friend snapped up the last BCA one and it turned out to have a rattling timing chain and went off to be an engine/gearbox donor for something else.

I'll keep thread updated on how it goes.

Who wants an inelegant SL? And it only went downhill from here.

Great blend job on that door at the front, somewhat less so at the rear.

Well....I would say both. But personally I actually like the styling of the Rover 75 (sorry). Also for retro crap cars, my dad bought one of the first PT Cruisers and I remember when they sold a premium when they first came here. I thought they looked amazing (not so much now though)

540i and the 604 are both fantastic, I much prefer SE spec BMW's with taller tyres. The SL has tall tyres as well as it's decent colours but in V6 guise just doesn't work for me.
