C&C auto-populates the gearbox field to manual so it could be as simple as forgetting to fill that field in. Especially since the ad text explicitly says it's an auto.

A Century went through eBay yesterday. Ended with no bids at £6200.

There's something a bit off about it, other than it being leather rather than cloth.

Why would you go to the trouble of importing it only to punt it on as a trade sale? I guess if you have to ask.

Cheap though assuming there's nothing catastrophic.

Thanks for this information - I've never advertised a car, so do not know about the quirks of such websites.
But I still consider it to be careless, or lazy, of the advertiser.

It's described as a 'manual', and the drivers seat looks a little ripe.
Which means that I can continue with my drinking, rather than drive to Bromsgrove smile
Autos being described as manual to get advert views is massively annoying.

That is cheap. I guess they buy all their stuff at Japanese auctions and ship them over unseen. If it has issues it's quicker and cheaper just to sell as "trade". Still it's an ebay car sale, inspect it well and if it's st then just don't buy it.

On the 260E

CandC adverts often say manual for an auto, I guess people don't check when it appears to have auto-populated the details correctly at first glance. Wouldn't put me off.

That early seat fabric is a bit of a nightmare for wear and looking dirty. Nice when it's in good shape though. Needs the headlight wipers reinstating, I couldn't live with the grommets.

Pricey and it has one of those awful ipad screens, but otherwise it's an absolute honey.

The bottom bit on the auction sheet says "exterior colour change", wonder if it's actually that or something else - Navy was an option (page 48). Also grade 3 / interior C puts it at the bottom of what a reputable importer will look at ime.

Regardless of the above

Re the Century, do they all look about 20 years older design-wise than they actually are?
I had a 1990 Lexus LS400 about 30 years ago and that looked more considerably modern than this.

There's only been 3 models though they did do revisions throughout a production run, first gen: 1967-1997, second: 97-2018, 3rd 18-present. Why change 'perfection' I guess? biggrin

Nice looking 525i for half thread https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/bmw-525i-3.0-lci-aut...

ETA: The century from above has now been relisted as classified ebay ad for 6800 so viewings are very much an option https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/407152358926

The Century looks low in the pics, quite the angle on the rear wheels.

Pinched from the other barge thread - slightly above thread but deserves some coverage here!

That's lovely.

But, more importantly, there's another barge thread?

MOT history indicates reactive maintenance rather than proactive as such splendid barge deserves. Someone needs to rescue that and bring it up to scratch.

Now relisted as a classified at £6800. If it's not rough it seems like decent money, I'd imagine it was a lucky auction buy at something daft like 500k ¥ and it's not perfect in person. Certainly the ride height looks off.

Ride height and stance in the new advert pics look comparable to other century pictures, seems pretty normal.

What's the story on those v8 engines, pretty sure there's a gremlin to look for?
