RS6 £134k

It looked like a space ship so I clicked on it and was astounded by the acceleration:

0-60 in 3.4 of your earth seconds on its way to 174mph on the Autobahn/loose your license.

50-80 on the motorway must be motorbike times, too.

What a macheeeen

I really like the styling of these — they look outlandish with the 22” alloys.
Not factory limited to 155mph? Says 174mph on the Autotrader specs.

Think it's an optional extra to have the limiter raised.

I get that they might be a bit one dimensional and the comparison with electric cars. But is there really an electric car with similar performance (including top speed), 600+ litres boot capacity and a 400 mile range?

This version is not to my taste but I'd strongly consider a standard RS6 as my daily if I was wealthy enough.

Nice motor, but needs be £4k not 5:5k surely?
It's 5 on ebay so a better starting point for negotiations I suppose.

I like this

Lot of car for the cash there. I used to have the 325i manual (a fair bit later than that) and it was a cracking combo. Just over 200hp naturally aspirated with a 7000rpm red line.
Lovely car. A Spanish German!

It's good to see the 525i is a 2.5 despite the 523i (whut?) being a 3.0. And in 2019 the sheddy police mule is a 530i which appears to have a 3.0.

Like a weird glitch...
BMW were some of the earliest to begin the badge engineering, IIRC.
I’m sure you could get an early E60 520i with a 4 cylinder but also a 520i with a 6 cylinder.
Maybe it was a 523, I can’t remember. It’s been so long since i gave a st about ‘current’ cars.
I'm not sure there was a 6 cylinder 520i E60, I think that was only late E39s that had a 2.2 litre 6.

E60s with the N52 engine had a 2.5 litre but were badged as 523i, later ones with the N53 were badged as 525i but had a detuned 3 litre just to keep things simple!

Yes, a 280kph limiter Vs the standard 250kph (hence 174 Vs 155mph) was an option on RS models of this era, not just the RS6. One supposes the cost of the upgrade was simply to cover the increased wear and tear going into whatever cost model Audi used for their warranty.

Quite happy to be wrong, as it’s been a hell of a long time since i was remotely interested in such piffle, but Wikipedia seems to support my memory.

It's a 2 litre, just to annoy me and the collective.

But I suppose they haven't gone rthe Audi route of silly numbers to represent engines, ones that only Audi salesmen understand.
I remember seeing a chart showing the Audi numbers are banded by kW, but with some big gaps between the bands so it doesn't actually cover the whole power spectrum.

I think the early-00s had it right; badge the cars with their BHP (or at least their pfederstarken). How much power does that Mondeo ST220 have? 220. How much power does that ZT260 have? 260. What about that Clio 172? 48. But it USED to have 172.

Cheap ULEZ-friendly W210 with lots of buttons. Needs a new set of tyres.

Audi now write the model on the B pillar, presumably deletable if you are buying an A1 0.9 and don't want the Joneses to know.

This puppy is pre registered and £124,800 of your English pounds, and you don't even get metallic paint. Talk about fk right off.

I think I'd be happy with this one. I like the colours and nice to see one without black wheels. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2024102556...

I'm with you on that one - much nicer, and in a colour you don't see often (not that I'm biased).

This engine has fuel injector issues. I had this with my 2010 528i and my specialist had seen more than a few with the same issue. Definitely worth checking if one or more have ever been replaced. Problem manifests itself more so in cold weather and intermittently.

Yes the RS6 is one of a select few ways to scare the bejeezus out of Fido. (I’m not up to speed there might be an E63 equivalent.)
They are mighty machines but quite shouty. For less wang waving the S6 fits the bill better for me. I had an A6 Avant 3.0 Tdi Quattro which felt like an express train but the usual VAG lack of longevity pushed me to sell, so I looked at the various models around. Of note was the 2.7T (twinT?) Allroad but was too old to realistically consider at the time.

I had a 2.7TT Allroad (admittedly an early 00’s one) and it was comfortably the worst car i’ve ever owned.

  • ETA - forgot about the S1 Escort RS Turbo i had. The Audi was the second worst!

Didn't the early Allroads have a habit of turning into suspension related money pits?
