They really do know how to spec a car over there. For that? 9 out of 10.
What a difference colour and spec choice make, that looks every inch an expensive luxury car.

I don't think we even got the spec that has with the bonnet emblem - all UK cars are naff 'sport' spec, with as said, engine from a van. Lovely motor car.
MBUK decided not to bring that spec to the UK. It was available across Europe and pretty popular with our German friends from memory. Here is proof we get royally stuffed when it comes to available car configurations in this country.
If you wanted a W205 C class in the UK, excluding the full fat AMG43 and 63 models, you had a choice of plane Jane, boggo spec se, Sport of full chav spec AMG line, complete with rubber band tyres and rock hard suspension, pleather and usually, shiny black plastic interior trim. Engine choices boiled down to a four cylinder petrol or four cylinder diesel.
(Although to be fair, the two litre petrol turbo isn't bad-it works incredibly well in my current GLC)
Meanwhile, in Germany you could have your C class in full comfortable as a 333bhp V6 powered slipper spec, or even full shrunken S class spec!
To me, these are infinitely better.

Meanwhile, we got grey porridge like this:

Honestly, which spec would you rather have?

I think this says more about people in the UK than anything else. You used to be able to chose all sorts of colours and engines but nobody ever did; that beautiful E class import would have sat in a dealers showroom for months while endless wet road grey with black pleather interior minicab spec "AMG SPORT BLACKLINE EDITION LIMITED NIGHT EDITION SPORT AMG E220d"s got sold.
When I was shopping for X351 XJs it blew my mind how many people looked at this brochure full of utterly fantastic exterior colours and interior colour combinations and trim finishes and decided "no. Black outside, black inside, with a black ceiling for me please. Oh and that tacky carbon fibre effect trim like you buy in rolls from eBay too. That's better, feels much more like an Audi A3 now"
Dismal.

What a refreshingly clear and comprehensive advert, and another vote for using a normal trusted garage not exclusively specialists.
have owned several Phaetons and have been through all five engine variants.
He deserves an award for persistence for that alone.
The potential bork levels would keep me awake, but I ve often wondered if the 3.2 V6 would be up to the job, or the later 3.6 according to Lord Wiki.

Mine had the 3 litre diesel unit and was excellent to drive.
It was let down by electrical and aircon faults.

Amen. This is where I wax lyrical about my old E500. Blue. Grey leather. Dark wood. Estate. Quad cam V8. No badges.
Likely the most complete car I’ll ever own.

That's a mighty slab of VW for the money - ask the seller for a personal introduction to the Phaeton Owners Club and you might be ok. I'd roll the dice.W00DY said:

I feel more angry about this the more expensive the car. If rich people don't have the decency or taste to do a fancy car justice, give the money to us plebs. When I was shopping for X351 XJs it blew my mind how many people looked at this brochure full of utterly fantastic exterior colours and interior colour combinations and trim finishes and decided "no. Basically a de-tuned E43 (twin turbo 3litre ~ 400bhp) (also 4wd). Same M276 3litre block.
The petrol E200s must be some tax gimmick spec, so that E400 3litre turbo petrol is probably the sweet spot. A 43 is seriously fast. The E400 looks to have been pretty sensible if you didn’t want diesel or a very lairy petrol.
Beautiful car, but £25k?
Deposit taken? Maybe it’s en-route from the far east & not seen yet.
