What would the PH bargistes suggest is a 'reasonable/bargain' price for this money pit...I used to buy and sell cars for fun and have zero problems making a very stupid offer with a smile on my face...what does this make at auction? £800 or so?

Asking £2.5k is abit pricy when £4k gets you something like this,

But even that has suspension bush mention on the MOT. I can only imagine its very expensive to get them changed, or they are not changeable on there own.

I guess cost to fix is dependent on if you can do it yourself, know a decent independent or need a main dealer. The codes may help you.

Mot suggests it may need brakes soon and bushes for the front suspension struts. So i d have a look at the cost of/if you can replace just the bush on the dampers or the cost of the dampers.

You could just offer the WBAC price and note how they would probably try to chip them down, but you will give the full £1175.

You could mention that you would be interested in it at that price if they don t get any other interest. They may come back to you, you never know how desperate they are to sell.

My A6 Avant I was told rear suspension bushes couldn’t be replaced, and it was the whole arm needed (from a specialist indy too not main dealer). I imagine it will be the same.

Does anyone else find that every time they do an oil change on a car where you have to use the sump drain plug and it has a filter on the bottom they turn into a one man environmental catastrophe?

I've spent a couple of hours fettling my S Type for the Festival of the Unexceptional, and ruining my driveway.

Yes! I've actually not done an oil change myself for years partly because of this.

Long chat with owner today, seems a very genuine guy, hopefully viewing the car on Tuesday and will make mind up from there. Don't need it, have no use for it, but then isnt that always the way....

If you can get it for what it's worth, which is WBAC+15% at the absolute absolute most, then it's a very low risk game and could be quite rewarding. I'll follow with interest, every old smoker is a roll of the dice but I always think with an Audi you're rolling a dice that only goes up to three. It'd be good to be wrong.

Agreed. Thinking 1500 is my top bid. If owner isn't interested thats cool, I'm down that way anyway on Tuesday so won't take long to find out and minimum inconvenience. Car covered 100k in first four years then use levelled off, only been used local and a trip to London a year for past several years and only being sold because owner has retired and replaced it with...another, newer D5 A8. Owner was very knowledgeable about the car able to recount every job he'd had done and where. On the face of it, seems like a genuine car but then to quote Dr. House, everybody lies....

Yes! I've actually not done an oil change myself for years partly because of this.

Yes, suction method me on the 322, Toerag and SL. Only the Toerag needed the under tray removed to access the filter and there was a bit of mess but on a friend's drive not mine.

I have a gravel drive, old oil works well as a weed killer.
