Me too.

As soon as they can at least do the motorway/ A road part of any journey autonomously I’ll buy one.

Even just lane keep assist and adaptive cruise is a game changer for long journeys.

Have been following and adding the odd comment for a while.

Just back to say thanks to all the posters commenting on the LS400 and what a sublime experience they are.

They have been on my radar for a while and after reading such positive comments I think I might have to start searching for a good one.

Sure, there might be no engine noise but the moment you hit poorly surfaced roads and/or drive at higher speeds, they often aren't that refined after all, even vs an old luxury ICE car (that has been designed to isolate the occupants from the road)

I couldn't stop reading about them when they first came out either.

I've wanted one ever since too. I appreciate what electric offers in terms of NVH, but it is nice to read that some of us really appreciate that when it comes to ICE as well.

It would be interesting to see if there any stats on how often driverless cars make mistakes compared to human drivers. I know several people who say they'd never get in a fully automated car but have no problem getting in to an Uber or dodgy minicab.

It would be interesting to see if there any stats on how often driverless cars make mistakes compared to human drivers. I know several people who say they'd never get in a fully automated car but have no problem getting in to an Uber or dodgy minicab.

Being honest I have zero experience of automated vehicles, apart from pods or driverless trains running on dedicated tracks,but judging by the quality of minicab drivers round here I find it difficult to imagine that automated cabs could be worse, probably far better. Problem at the moment is that they can only cope with specific details with which they have been programmed, and if the system requires there still to be a driver in attendance then what are you gaining? Especially if the attendant 'driver' is of minicab standard plus maybe not paying that much attention as it's "automated innit".

They've recently certified Teslas self driving system to be used with supervision here in the Netherlands. A mate has a Model 3 that's too old to do it but said he's been a colleague's and it seems to work well. However I don't like the idea of self driving by supervised, that implies it's pretty good but the driver might have to take over to stop it doing something silly, but that something silly could happen pretty fast and if the driver's been used to the car doing it's own thing they're possibly not going to be paying enough attention to take over in time. To my mind either a car is fully autonomous or it's not.
On the other hand presumably it's like a beta test, they'll be collecting data on any time the human has to take over and improving to the software accordingly. Waymo apparently have way less crashes than human drivers, and that with them logging every incident vs the amount of human drivers who have a minor scrape that never gets recorded anywhere.

This is the thing, do they make less mistakes than humans, if they do then that's good.

There was a headline the other day.

"Self-driving bus in Sweden crashes with tram on first day."

Everybody will read that as the bus was at fault, but if you read the article it turns out a tram ran into the back of the bus.

I believe the importer have just pulled the brand from the uk market. Would likely be on your own with warranty and spares availability.

My LS400 was the best, most thoughtfully engineered and built car I've ever owned. What a machine. Serene.
