I love engines too obviously but driving to work in an EV this morning I was struck, not so much by how comfortable and fast it was, but it s also fun in a way a confirmed petrolhead like me never would have imagined
You don't love engines enough though for me, because if you did, then you wouldn't be driving an electric car in the first place in my view. Sporky said:

You don't love engines enough for me though to be fair in fairness. TheBinarySheep said:

Pretty even - but you would have been in an m340i instead .
I know what I d rather be in! and I say this as an EV driver
Not for me. M340i would sound better, but that's about it for me. Even now, if I had the choice between an i4 M50 and an M340i, I'd choose the EV.I know what I d rather be in! and I say this as an EV driver
I had an M340i touring before my first Tesla. Wouldn’t go back.

The money I save on fuel and servicing running an EV as a daily driver pays for my weekend toy so it's a win-win, and the contrast makes both experiences better.
But electric cars are all about saving the environment and not allowing you to afford running another polluting car for the weekends.Monkeylegend said:

But electric cars are all about saving the environment and not allowing you to afford running another polluting car for the weekends. You have to remember, a large gas guzzling engine just gives you the "ability" to pollute, if you don't use it very often, then your overall pollution can be quite low.
Remember, net zero, is not about zero pollution, it's about a balance of polluting and fixing that equals zero.

So you slid to the bottom of the slope, landed in hot water and now you are going to slide down exactly the same slope again expecting a different outcome. I'm sure you know what they say about people who do that.Googlin said:

What is your weekend car, this is PH and these sort of things are important.

Just as well you can buy one then eh.
I'm glad that option is out there in this day and age for sure. It was a 'given the choice of the two cars with similar overall running costs but different powertrains' answer, not to be confused with 'I want/must have one'.
There are many cars I would like next/as well as but none are new or were made in the last twenty years.

Not for many of the people who buy them - its about reduced cost motoring for many, I suspect the majority.Reduced cost plus reduced local pollution. Both good. Things don't have to be perfect to be better.

I assume Lee has already confirmed that you’re not a true petrolhead though?
