I think it's fair to say BEV would be half that so 10% of worldwide sales. If you see that as "taking over" give your head a wobble.

I think you underestimate how long it takes for things to reach the masses.

e.g
It took 18 years for mobile phones to reach 20% of just UK households : 1985 to 2003

These were new products so not replacing something people already have.

Again, that's your unsupported opinion. Only in China does the PHEV share approach 50% of all EV sales. See https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/share-car-sales...

Lee, you are starting to show signs of making up fictional characters just like Fred has. laugh

Come on, nobody joins PH unless they have an interest in cars. The name PistonHeads is just a bit dated now since lots of new cars don t have engines. Did you know that PistonHeads was originally called PetrolHeads ? Maybe it needs another re-branding to reflect the obvious change. Or it could exclude EVs like presumably you and Fred would prefer?
Obvious change? 75m new car sales in 2024 worldwide and BEV and PHEV were 17m. BEV only would be far less of course.

TX.
You can pretend EVs don t exist if you like. But I see hundreds of them on the road every day here in the UK, where most PHs live. I think you probably see loads of them too unless you live in an African cave.
You like the data, the above is facts Vs your anecdotes.

TX.
I don’t care what the sales figures are. Why would I? My current daily driver is a Model Y and they are everywhere I look. Hardly a rare sight on UK roads. Best selling car globally outright for 3 years running. I’m not sure what point you are even trying to make here?

Harsh. If I had posted the Volvo link would the message be any different?

Why is his opinion not valid? If you watch the video he gives a useful example of a journey with the milage difference.

No doubt Volvo will sort it asap
In answer to your first question. Nope.

You troll this thread with clickbait nonsense continually which is always corrected by others but by then you have gained your misplaced glee. It’s tedious. Post factual stuff that is actually true and I and I’m sure others will enjoy and read it.
As for that link you posted I accidentally viewed one of his videos last year and he makes Geoff Buys Cars look like a genius.

I was for my sins generalising. I didn’t click on the link and assume the video relates to Volvo restricting the max charge of about 70 cars (I read somewhere else) about a week ago. This is no different to any number of manufacturers carrying out recalls but because it’s an EV you get all wet or hard and post some idiots YT video to validate your fever dream. Most of your posts are click bait bks.

Anyway back to the thread an EV currently isn’t for everyone. Same as a steam engine, diesel or petrol.

Is it possible to have to chargers fitted to your house and charge two EVs at once?

Steady on MB, iI would start off with one EV and see how you get on! laugh

We charge 2 EVs with a single 7kW charger. Just alternate them as required. You need to be doing some big miles to need two dedicated chargers. I can charge from 20-80% overnight on cheap rate tariff.

max load on 100a feed is about 24kW, so should be fine if you turn the weed farm in the loft down a bit.

Yeah, we’ve got two chargers, although we’re down to one EV at the moment so slightly overkill biglaugh

it's amazing how many people have major work done on their property and don't make provision like you have. so easy to run a big fat cable when knocking stuff about or building from scratch.

thumbup

I thought it was a great shout from the electricians to be honest as you say, and even if I don't use it, it will be there for someone else in the future anyway.

When I had an extension done about 10 years ago I had the electrical wire in a socket in the front of the house. I asked that it was fed from its own breaker via a 6mm2 for an electric charger.

He was hesitant and didn't really get it even when I explained, but fast forward 9 years, whipped off the socket and fitted a charger along with an appropriate breaker. Very easy and it looked better than a great big black cable being ran round d my rendered white walls.
