Interesting note in the article about the insurance, that's very cheap.

What were the criteria for it?
Lets not forget it is a Ford KA hehe I think it was 2K miles per year, SDP and parked on a drive. They actually offered £182 which is their minimum possible premium but I paid a bit more for legal protection. I need to provide a list of all the modifications but the policy covers unlimited mods.
Sorry to chime on about it but what did they need to insure it as a 'competition' vehicle? Did you just have to tell them that was it's intended use or provide an ARDS licence number or BARC membership number or something?

No problem! I told them it's for use in the new MSV EnduroKA series but no further questions were asked. I should have expanded and stated as well that this is just road cover and does not cover us on track. Here's the list:

Items required for Competition Car: KA

3 Colour photographs of the Vehicle (with at least one including the Vehicle Registration)
A Vehicle Specification Document (Including Modifications)
Evidence of No Claim Discount in force on your main vehicle
Copy club membership card

The latter I'm assuming is a copy of my race licence.

Does it require an MSA logbook? Mine had one but would need to be re-inspected I think. Maybe I should just call them up...

You’re right about costs, if I tally up everything I’ve spent on mine I’m £12k deep in a £2k Clio!
Most race cars dont need an MSA log book, rally cars do. FIA spec Historic cars eligable for FIA events have HTTP papers akin to an MSA log book.

Good luck with the project, I hope you enjoy it.

Is it your first time preparing a car? And Racing it?

If so happy to offer some free pointers to help you on your way.

Stop it!

I dread to think what my £2k Clio owes me.

Great little race cars though. driving

Cheers! We've built and modified a fair few cars between us over the years but this is our first time building a race car. It's pretty much finished now (first race is Saturday!) but thank you for the offer thumbup
