Hi all,

I am looking to change cars very shortly, my requirement of a daily has evaporated so I'm after a car for weekends only. I was considering the CSL but I'm after more power (pref. turbo) and tuning potential, I also like to have something a bit different from the norm. Exige's don't appeal in looks so I had decided on a 996 turbo until I remembered the noble!

I plan on test driving both and making a decision from there.

I've done a bit of research, the 3R is what I'm after, it sounds more reliable (newer ECU, 6 speed, LSD?), plus I really prefer the front end.

Does anyone know this car?

Other than the normal issues what else should I be asking/looking for? From what I've read the turbos tend to go and the chassis rails corrode? Also the manifolds crack? Are these all things I could check easily?

Thanks in advance for any help,

James

James, looks good smile

Ask nicely and, being an excedingly affable bunch (most of the time!) one of us will most likely meet you at the dealers' to offer expertise wink

Just because its a 3R doesn't mean it automatically has a LSD and track day sump so something to check

Do a search on this forum, all the common issues have been covered in great detail, the only issue particular to the 3R / M400 is that the wheels are prone to cracking and distortion.
It's a good idea to get an inspection or take an expert along for a once over, if its a good car looks like great value.

Hasn't this one popped up on here before? Looks a nice example with bespoke wheels and non standard rear lights.

I bought from a dealer at a similar price and still had to do the floor and brakes shortly afterwards.

For reference this one looks like its Indigo Blue which is a lovely colour.

I'll admit to not seeing this one in the flesh but I do know that it has been up for sale for over a year now. If anything can be deduced from that? smile

Edit: It was sold and bought back, no shenanigans here wink

I looked at it when I bought mine late last year, I think it sold but has come back up for sale again! It looked a straight car, had upgraded shocks, exhaust from memory, wierd exhaust ? Clean and straight, wouldn't say mint but VGC. I just found it a bit boring in the blue and bought a lower miles car!

Lots of owners I think ?

The car was sold to a customer who has unfortunately had to sell due to personal circumstances. Photos are archive, awaiting new ones.

Dr. K, you own a Farbio smile Tell all - what's it like to drive/own? Have you owned/ driven a Noble for comparison?

My previous car was a Noble M400, loved every second of my ownership. By comparison, the M400 is quicker but the Farbio gives touring comfort (boot and interior space) and (IMO), supercar looks.
I always felt that the Farbio was what the Noble should have become; I say this since I had an M14 on order before it was cancelled. I believe that the M14 (which was (£75k) would have sold at that time if it had ever been built.
The M600 is awesome but it is somewhat out of my and many existing Noble owner’s price bracket. Sadly this leaves a significant void for owners like me who supported TVR and Noble.
Unfortunately, in these difficult times, low volume cars are expensive to produce and sell.
I'm conscious of hijacking this thread so I'm happy if you want to contact me by email.

Yours has probably gone up in value as it tends to be driven very gingerly! wink

Agree, Indigo blue looks lovely. Probably the best, but who am I to say?

Very true mate, however my suspension was ste on the day but much better now once we discovered the corner weighting was miles out.

Shanty, don't know the car in your original post, but do know the dealer. We bought our discovery 3 from them in 2008 and have had no probs with it.They've had it for a while as I popped in there about 3 months or so ago.
The car at Bespoke is on SOR as I enquired about it for a friend a couple of weeks ago, they've done the last three services on it.

Thanks for the replies, the blue one is out of my price range to be honest as are most 3R's which is part of the reason they weren't on my radar.

I'd also like a standard one to put my own mark on, the black one ticks both boxes so I've dropped over a message to the dealer smile

Well I viewed the car this afternoon, I found the gear changes extremely vague and quite notchy, is this normal?
