Yes, many 3R's are notchy and one of the biggest downfalls of the car.
One of the 3R's I had in the past had the M400 upgraded linkage and it's a very decent mod to have done and a common one too for the 3R.
If it's standard then after a while you learn to ease into gear better with more experience but it won't be as smooth as having the upgrade obviously. Don't let that put you off as it's an easy enough thing to have done and I'm a fan of the day to day drive that the 3R gives.

Hi Shanty, Don't know how you feel about silver but have you seen the one at Targa Florio cars it's on Autotrader at £24995, does not say what the mileage is but looks nice especially with the wheels.

Thanks paul/nebby, I may take a look but the black really took my fancy. It also looked like it had a bump to the front clamshell at some point, the front headlight covers had some stress cracks as did the clamshell where it meets the front windscreen, I assume this is not the norm?

I will say the chaps at sports & prestige were far more accommodating than the garage I viewed the Porsche at later on!

My clam shows no stress cracks apart from the splitter, black is the way to go though wink Is this 5 or 6 speed? My 5 speeder isn't slick but isn't notchy or vague either.

6 speed, I've never felt anything like it, very difficult to place gears with little spring back to centre along with notchiness!

Drove Deanos 6 speeder and it wasn't as you describe either. It was more notchy than mine but pretty direct and accurate, maybe this needs adjustment? There is an uprated gear linkage available too but it's not cheap.

Gearshift can be much improved with pivot lubrication and proper adjustment - detail in US build manual. My 6 speed is pretty good now, though still hesitant into second when cold.

My 3R gearchange was very poor.

I opted for the Tuxman quick shifter and uprated linkeage system from Jetstream.

After a few teething troubles and settling in its now a great system.

Very quick and assured change.

Not cheap but in my opinion well worth it.

Agree with Dom.

Dave at Jetstream set my 6 speed up and it shifts very nicely through all the gears - really slick and positive smile

The only slight niggle is that it's sometimes a bit hard going into 1st from standstill.

My gear change is all standard and that's the only niggle I have to. Its only occasional though and not a hindrance
